- The Philippines may have just hit a record-breaking occurrence of natural calamities in one day
- A 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit Masbate, which brought about a lot of devastation
- Four volcanoes were reportedly in Alert Level 1: Taal, Mayon, Kanlaon and Bulusan
All these natural calamities are in addition to the existing pandemic.
The Philippines has to deal with natural calamities and today was considerably record-breaking.
Within 24 hours, five calamities were recorded by national agencies. First, there was the Masbate quake, which was recorded at a 6.6 magnitude, causing a lot of damage and even took lives. Then there were the four active volcanoes, which the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded and tagged as Alert Level 1.
The four volcanoes were Taal in Batangas, Mayon in Albay, Kanlaon in Negros Occidental, and Bulusan in Sorsogon. For Taal, five volcanic earthquakes were recorded. For Kanlaon, there were four volcanic earthquakes. For Mayon, there was a rockfall even with white steam-laden plumes. For Bulusan, there were white steam-laden plumes.
