Martti Malmi, the first developer to work with Satoshi Nakamoto recently revealed that he sold 50,000 bitcoins eight years ago and therefore stopped earning more than $ 1 billion if he had kept the coins to date. In a series of tweets the Bitcoin pioneer contributor said he mined the digital currency on his notebook from 2009 to 2010. The coins, however, were sold before 2012. If he had kept the bitcoins he would be a billionaire today with a fortune estimated at $ 1.257 billion. Despite "regretting" selling, Malmi said that digital currency is much more than just profit in a person's life.
The developer revealed that he did not sell his bitcoins for now, the money earned from the sale was used to quit a job he did not like and move to Japan. He said he first sold 10,000 bitcoins for about $ 15 to $ 30 each to buy an apartment. After moving to Japan and becoming unemployed, he had to sell the rest of the coins to pay bills.
