Secretum, the new blockckchain-based messaging app

Secretum, an eye-catching messaging app based on blockchain, the technology behind Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, will soon be available. Secretum is an alternative to WhatsApp and Telegram with a focus on privacy, but also a platform for making transactions in blockchain projects.

We know how blockchain technology works, which creates decentralized databases thanks to users collaborating on the network. This means that when you send a message through Secretum it is encrypted and sent through the "nodes" of the other users.

Unlike WhatsApp and Telegram, there are no central servers, which makes it very complicated to spy on communications, even by governments. Nor would it be easy to block the use of Secretum or for the service to suffer a crash, as there are no central elements, not even for adding new contacts.

In Secretum the identification is done through the blockchain wallet, so we do not need to provide personal data or an email, phone number or social networks. Since the goal is to make transactions, in this way we already have all the necessary data to send or receive cryptocurrencies, other tokens or the new NFTs.

At the level of functionalities, it does not seem that Secretum will go too far at first. Its creators mention text messages, voice calls and file storage, both in private conversations and groups, which can be public.

Secretum is based on the Solana network, and has a clear focus on the cryptocurrency world. For example, it supports verified public channels for new projects, and a system for inviting users based on their wallet when we want to send them an item.

Secretum has its own virtual currency, a token called "SER", which serves as the basis for many functions: to send invitations to other users, pay for future premium Secretum services or receive payments when generating valuable content.

Those who help maintain Solana network nodes can earn SERs, which can also be used to create private nodes for even greater security.

In this sense, Secretum has nothing to do with WhatsApp and Telegram, where the goal is pure communication. Secretum is more oriented to trading, or exchange of Bitcoin and other virtual assets in a safe way, in addition to that it will try to make its SER currency revalue.

We know that Secretum will have mobile apps and web interface, but for now the project has just started. They hope to have the first public beta open by the end of 2022, for the moment they are working on the base architecture and looking for investors.

Currently, trading with the so-called "cryptos" is done mainly on platforms ("exchanges") such as Coinbase or Binance, the idea of Secretum is not to depend on such services and that users make individual transactions in a simpler, safer and faster way.

While Secretum can be an alternative to WhatsApp and Telegram, in general it will interest us if we want to invest in cryptocurrencies. At the privacy level there is Signal if we want to chat anonymously, which meets the needs of most users.

Why not just blind drop message encrypted to your intended recipient? Like, take my public key from here: bitcoincash:qqw69cxnd3w0nwayjq0yj89l0v64m246zu3gczhlq3 encrypt your message with that, and post it here on read.cash with a new a-nonny-mouse (silly, but I just can't spell it) account of your own.

I -imagine- it is possible, probably a lot of info on how to do just that with PGP, not so sure where the tools are of bitcoin address.

Just seems there ought to be a very basic option in ones crypto wallet to send and receive messages, why need a central app like this?
