Marky Stories: Tikbalang
The root of this story is the stories of Lola Pilo, Felomena Jamito Villaluz, my grandmother on my mother's side about tikbalang, tiyanak and other creatures from the world of wonders such as asbo, orokotok and tambulislis believed in and around Camarines Norte province. She does storytelling to give pleasure to her grandchildren when they sleep in their house in barangay Napaod, Labo, Camarines Norte.
Because Napaod is the only barangay next to the barangay where we live, my mother and I often go there and spend the night visiting our parents. During our visit, Uncle Ebot (Adolfo Villaluz), my mother's younger brother, invited me to take a bath in the Mabilo creek near their house.
Apart from the rocky, there is a steep part of the Mabilo creek where the forest still surrounds both banks of that time so it is inevitable that creatures from the world of wonders like the tikbalang content of Lola Pilo's story come back to my mind. According to his story in this creature, when the creek fades in good weather, there is a tikbalang that fills the creek.
"In fishing, the tikbalang makes the wide testicles a catch to catch shrimp's favorite food", said Lola Pilo. "And because he is strong, he digs the rocks to release the hippos that live there so the creek is fading!"
While bathing, I noticed that the water of the Mabilo stream was fading so I told my younger brother and sister of my mother what was happening that the reason, the tikbalang creature, was already playing in my mind. I don't know if uncle Ebot is scared or seriously say we should take a quick bath because the tikbalang is in the river and fishing so the water is fading.
"When the tikbalang comes to us, we will be captured and taken to that forest", said Uncle Ebot who was accompanied by a teaching in the forest on the side of the creek not far from the part where we bathed.
"Probably so", I replied believing what Uncle Ebot said. "So, go ahead, I'm going to rinse, I don't want to be captured by the tikbalang in the forest!"
Because of the great fear of the tikbalang, I quickly finished bathing and getting dressed so that my uncle, who also quickly got dressed to leave the Mabilo creek, would not be left behind as the water continued to fade. When I got home, I told Lola Pilo what happened that immediately gave the right comment we did because the tikbalang who lives in the forest on the side of the Mabilo river is probably fishing so the water is fading. awareness.
But as the days went by, I discovered that there were many reasons why the water of a creek faded even though it was sunny and the weather was good. The reason is that it rains on the other side, bathing animals like buffaloes and other man-made things so whether this incident is true or not that scared my young mind, I can not draw a conclusion, the important thing is, the stored is free that story in my consciousness.
I have a belief that every writer eventually finds their voice as a writer. We start out in this beautiful moment where everything is possible. As newbies, we’re in it for the stories — not for the complexities of the market. Every good story starts with a spark of inspiration, an idea. What matters to the new writer is not who is going to read that thing, but instead crafting that idea into something people will want to read. Marky stories are not only for children, but adult may want to read this also as if the stories have love, fiction, epic and many more, I'm not only focusing in one theme, because every day, readers want something new, something that is not published before.
