Marky Stories: Oyeng and The Fairies (Part 1)
"Son of a coward, how did he do that?" exclaimed Mang Estong, 47, when he saw his 8-year-old brother Oyeng cross the flood.
Surprisingly it was not even read despite it descending into the water. It was as if he was just passing through the usual road despite the force of the flood. Their brother Aleng Kepat, 50, died when he saw the strange incident. Oyeng returned to them after an overnight stay at the ballet tree. They could not pick it up because apart from the chest it was still dark. That happened during the height of the pouring rain that has now subsided.
It was said in Barangay Lugnok that Oyeng is going crazy. Probably because of the stories he told about his friends who allegedly lived in the ballet tree. He said that is the most castle or kingdom of his white-skinned friends or albino. He was allegedly invited to a party by his friends with his colleague Merto who had been buried for a month.
“Merto is not dead! I saw that he was there. But I did not approach him. I called him but he did not hear me. I also saw many of us here lost. But, there it is. The strange thing is, they don't know me, ”Oyeng said when he talked to his siblings and friends.
The child even recounted — that at the feast held it was like the feast of the people. Pork, chicken, and a variety of delicious dishes are available. There are different colors of rice there. There are white, yellow, red, blue, green, purple, and orange. His albino friend told him that white rice is what people usually eat. That way, he can return to his family. Because otherwise, the opposite will happen.
Because of the child's strange behavior and words, people who do not understand the truth avoid him. But, for the elders in Barangay Lugnok, the fairies allegedly made friends with Oyeng. Oyeng is a quiet, gentle, white, and kind child. Until adolescence, it has no vices like drinking alcohol and smoking. Many like men. But, as her personality changed, the girls turned to her.
The handsome young man is said to have a damage on his head. Oyeng is the youngest of eight children of a tailor and a farmer. Three boys and five girls. Because the young man is not yet married, the young man lives in Mang Estong's house. Sometimes he was at Aleng Kepat's house. Some of their siblings already have families. The young man's story, how many people there are in a town is how many fairies there are. And others are already interacting with people without realizing it.
Mang Pio believes that fairies befriended the young man because he was kind. Oyeng's knowledge helped a lot in the rich harvest of his rice. In the paddy field or on the embankment, there is a part that cannot be planted or sown with rice because the young man's friends are said to pass through it. And every time the full moon shines like the sun and is surrounded by a rainbow-like a ring, Oyeng goes to the valley and climbs to the largest and tallest ballet tree in Barangay Lugnok. It was strangely raining when he went to the said tree.
There are many ballet leaders in the said barangay. But, the biggest one there is the unbreakable even if the owner of the lot of plans to build it. Senior Rafael also believes in fairies. When her husband was about to cut down the tree, it rained heavily and flooded the barangay and their 19-year-old girl got sick and sprayed fuel on the tree to burn it. Lilet, the woman Oyeng loves, has a serious illness. It was lying on the bed and seemed dead. It seems to be possessed by an evil spirit and always out of self. He also vomited and had epilepsy. The medicine did nothing to the girl's condition.
Two months later, Lilet became comatose. Oyeng says he saw Lilet in his friend's kingdom. But the girl's family did not believe him except for Senyor Rafael.
“Do you believe in those idiots? How can Lilet be in the ballet tree ‘e even though she is lying in bed!” Senyora Amanda exclaimed when the senor told about what Oyeng found out.
“Oyeng, if Lilet is really in the kingdom of your friends, bring her back here when you go to their palace again. When you do that, you will have this lot and that vast paddy field, ”said senior Rafael when he spoke to Oyeng while sitting in the shade of a ballet tree.
