History of Mindanao

1 13

The name is thought to follow the name of Mindanao or the People's Light which forms the largest Sultanate in Philippine history.

The Islamic religion said to be one of the first religions on the island of Mindanao, in the region during the thirteenth century by Arab traders from present-day Malaysia and Indonesia.

Even before this happened, the natives were primarily animists living in small communities.

Maps of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries suggest that the name was used to refer to the island of the powerful natives of that time.

When the Spanish or Spanish conquerors arrived in their archipelago (now called the Republic of the Philippines), the colony proved that the native animists and the Muslims were on the island of Mindanao.

The name Moro is derived from the Spanish word for "Moors", which is a term given to Muslims living on the island of Mindanao.

Mindanao culture (Mindanao culture):

Mindanao culture has proven to be strong in many races. Although they may have different beliefs that are different from the prevalence of Christianity, they are brave enough to fight and succeed in being overpowered by foreigners.

There are five major groups in Mindanao that are Muslim or Moros.

These are the Tausug, Maranao, Maguindanao, Samal, and Badjao. Meanwhile, there are still indigenous peoples and these groups are believed to be Yakan, Tiruray, T'Boli, Bagobo, Subanon, Bukidnon, Manobo, and/or all groups belonging to the so-called Lumad community.

The lives of these indigenous peoples are at stake because of the military forces in the country who are oppressing and killing them because the military is affiliated with government officials and corporations who want to rule and occupy their ancestral lands.

Pineapple, corn, coffee, copra, honey, and hemp products are the most profitable in the Philippines in Mindanao. There are also mineral resources such as iron, nickel, copper, silver, gold, coal, and limestone.

Because of the island's natural resources, many are interested in extending ancestral lands from our indigenous peoples. We must not allow fascism to spread today in Mindanao.
