What Do You Understand by faith?
Faith has been defined over time in different ways but these words ( Trust, Confidence, Belief) always appear no matter the language or way you try to define it with but I must note that Faith is much different from those words.
The Bible Defined faith as the confidence in what we hope for and belief in things not seen.
The Dictionary Defines faith as;
•complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
•strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.
But what does it really mean to have faith?
A lot of people in the bible have cited as example of people that moved with faith. Abraham, Moses, Esther Mary just to mention a few.
Another good example is the widow of Zarephath who used her last meal to the prophet Elijah without hope of getting anything but we all know how that went if you don't know read 1Kings 7:7-16.
Faith in my own understanding is taking actions that wouldn't make sense of course to the ordinary man and it seems you are foolish or not calculating your risks but at the End the result is unbelievable and God's name is to be praise for Faith can only come by God's grace because without grace you will doubt your actions and might even end the process because it is the logical thing to do.
Faith breaks Logic. Faith is making foolish wise and it makes the wise things you know and learned over the years foolish.
Let Me Tell You A Story
It was already the middle of planting season and there still was not rain the community believe it was undoubtedly drought, they have been making supplication and sacrifice to no avail, there was hunger I the land. People saved every grain of food even to the last everything was important.
Manuel was pastor and a farmer in the community himself and is family suffered the same date but he stayed optimistic and told his wife rain will come and they thought he was crazy. One night Manuel prayed and got a revelation of rain fall and plant growing. It was a confirmation that the rain was coming very soon.
He woke up the next morning and asked his daughter to go fetch water at the stream they fetched water all day it was used to wet the floor so I can be soft for digging and planting. The next morning he and his two songs started tilling the soil word went round quickly and people went to see if it's true, They told him to spoke but all he said was the rain is coming they called him foolish and advised him to save his seed but he laughed and asked them to do as he was doing and plant for the rain was coming. It showed no sign that rain will come and it sounded stupid to the people , at night he planted.
The next day he asked his daughters to fetch water and he watered the seed. That evening the clouds turned black there was a thunder storm for a while and it was back to normal the people laughed at foolish Manuel saying the rain he spoke about almost came.
The next day 7am it started it rained for six hours that day at 1pm the skies were clear and they knew for sure that Manuel's God was greater than thiers and that single act of foolish called faith won almost every soul in that community to God.
From the story of Manuel and every other story in the bible we can see that Faith doesn't really make sense most of the time and it does not have to... For what man Calls foolish in faith is wisdom in God's language.
So if there is anything you know you have to do but it doesn't make sense to you, it is not according to your laid out plan, it just seems stupid but in your spirit you know it's God leading you? Just do it.
Lastly I will like to add that Faith is the exam you take to be promoted. But Faith without work is death.
So keep your faith up and do something and you will see real changes in Jesus name.
