The vaccination campaign started from mid-January, was relaxed in mid-April due to various reasons. In the third phase of the campaign from May 1, the work of giving vaccines to adults above the age of 18 years has also started. There are many problems in this phase, the most prominent of which is the lack of proper dosage.
The entire country is suffering from the second wave of Corona epidemic. Continuing vaccination work with the treatment of critically ill people is a difficult challenge. Despite all this, it is a matter of satisfaction that by July almost half of the country's population will get at least one dose of vaccine. It is noteworthy that in the dreaded second wave of epidemic, people who had taken the vaccine in the first two stages have generally been safe. We should also remember that vaccines are the only solid way to protect against this dangerous virus.
Therefore, if vaccines are available, we must get vaccinated and encourage others too, so far more than 15.5 crore doses have been given and it is likely that about 30 crores more doses can be given by July. There are two vaccines manufactured in India right now, and soon Russia's Sputnik vaccine will be available.
Apart from these, the use of some other vaccines is also expected to get government permission. 110 million doses are expected to be supplied from the Serum Institute in Pune in May, June and July. During this period, more than 60 million doses can be provided from Bharat Biotech. In view of the demand from the central and state governments and the private sector, both Indian producers have also assured to increase manufacturing capacity. Many questions are being raised about the price of vaccines and the vaccine process. On the one hand, companies have cut prices and the government is also in constant dialogue with them, on the other hand, the Supreme Court has also directed the government to conduct a policy review and consider measures to give vaccines to all.
In this way, continuous efforts are being made about the vaccine and within a few days the picture in this regard can be expected to be clear. Although India has experienced extensive vaccination, it was limited to infants and pregnant women. This is the first time that a campaign to vaccinate the entire adult population is going on.
This work is very challenging in view of the large population. Meanwhile, the epidemic is also causing havoc. It is hoped that on the basis of the experiences so far and with the available resources various obstacles can be overcome. Everyone's contribution is required in this.
