A case has been filed against Nurul Haque, former VP of the Central Student Parliament (Daksu) of Dhaka University, under the Kidnapping, Rape, Assistance in Rape and Digital Security Act.
The case was registered at Kotwali police station in the capital on Monday evening. Six people including Nurul have been accused in the case.
Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the information in the first light.
Earlier on Sunday night, a student of Dhaka University filed a rape case against Nurul and six others at Lalbagh police station. The case of Kotwali police station was filed by the same student.
The main accused in the case is Hasan Al Mamun, convener of Bangladesh Student Rights Council. The student accused him of raping her and then refusing to marry her. The allegation against Nurul in the case is that he called the student and threatened her in the name of resolving the issue. He said that if he exaggerated the issue, he would spread 'Ultapalta' in the name of the student with his fans.
The other accused in the case are the joint convener of the Student Rights Protection Council Nazmul Hasan, joint convener. Saiful Islam, vice president. Nazmul Huda and student. Abdullah Hill left.
Nazmul Hasan, the joint convener of the Student Rights Protection Council, is the number one accused in the Digital Security Act case filed by the same girl yesterday. The incident took place at Sadarghat Hotel and Restaurant in Kotwali police station. The date and time of the incident have been mentioned in the case from 6:40 pm to 8:30 pm on February 9, 2020.
Police arrested eight people, including Nurul, from a procession at around 8.30 last night. Police said that Nurul was released after an hour and a half.
