Pakistan covid19 histroy

Pakistan reported its first two cases of COVID-19 on February 26, 2020, in the southern province of Sindh. The cases were both travelers returning from Iran.

As the number of cases began to increase rapidly, the government of Pakistan imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 23, 2020. However, the lockdown was lifted on May 9, 2020, due to economic pressures and the need to resume economic activities.

The number of COVID-19 cases continued to rise throughout the year, with the highest number of daily cases reported in June and July 2020. The government again imposed some restrictions in November 2020, including the closure of schools, restaurants, and wedding halls. However, these restrictions were relaxed in December 2020.

In March 2021, Pakistan began its vaccination drive, with healthcare workers being the first to receive the vaccine. By April 2021, more than two million doses of the vaccine had been administered in the country.

As of the knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, Pakistan had reported more than 1.2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more than 27,000 deaths. The country continues to grapple with the pandemic, with the government urging people to follow safety measures such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
