Cryptocurrency is a relatively new and developing concept in Pakistan. As of my knowledge cutoff of September 2021, the government of Pakistan had not officially recognized or legalized the use of cryptocurrency within the country. However, individuals and businesses were still able to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies through various online platforms and exchanges.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), which is the central bank of the country, had issued warnings in the past about the risks associated with cryptocurrency, including money laundering and terrorist financing. The SBP also prohibited banks and other financial institutions from dealing with cryptocurrencies or facilitating their transactions.

Despite the lack of official recognition and regulation, there was a growing interest in cryptocurrencies among the Pakistani population. Some experts suggested that the lack of traditional banking infrastructure in certain areas of Pakistan made cryptocurrencies an attractive option for conducting financial transactions.
