Michigan State University Scientists while researching on Geo-Bacter find out an amazing information. This bacteria mainly lives in sedimented rocks. These bacteria can extract cobalt from rust without letting it to penetrate into their cells.

Cobalt generally penetrates and kills living cells of an organism. Researchers said they can not only extract them but also use the cobalt as a protective coat for their cells. In general they coat themselves with a metal. Sounds amazing😉.

This discovery leads to the proof of concept that opens door to a number of amazing possibilities.

This study may opens up a door for biotechnology field in a number of ways like we can recycle the cobalt from lithium batteries. These microorganisms can also be used to extract othe toxic materials like cadmium.
