Introduction:
Depression is a State of mental illness. It is characterised by deep ,long -lasting feeling of sadness or despair. Definition: Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feelings of sadness and loss of interest.
And also called major depressive disorder. It affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.
Causes of depression : 1.Childhood experiences 2.life events 3.other mental health problems 4.physical health problems 5.genetic inheritance 6.medication,recreational drugs and alcohol 7.sleep, diet and exercise
Signs and Symptoms of depression : 1.loss of interest 2.No motivation 3. Physical aches and pains 4.low mood 5.feeling hopeless 6.No self-confidence 7.feeling tired all the time 8.lack of energy 9.difficulties to speak clearly 10.Feeling guilty 11.difficulties concentrating 12.restless, agitated or irritable 13.despair 14. Feeling fearful 15.low self esteem 16.feeling worthless 17.emptyness
Effects of depression:
Religious effects: Losing touch with your faith ."forgetting "God ,or struggling to find time for spiritual study. Social effects :Social effects of depression include :substance use and abuse .social and family withdrawal. Decrease performance at work or school.
Way Forward:
1.eat healthy 2. Get enough sleep 3. Challenge negative thoughts 4. Do something new 5.avoid alcohol and drugs 6.check with your doctor before using supplements.
