The corpse laid still on the earth,
and the maggots ate the flesh,
the blood spilled and curdled.
the ants came to feast the guts
and the birds to peck the eyes.
nothing was left but bones
and morsels of flesh.
the sun dried the skin
and the winds brushed
the remaining humanity.
time passed and the corpse
was no more but a bed of bones.
from the skull sprung a single flower
and grasses sprouted from whence it laid.
