My Election Journey
Its the 9th of May 2022, the Philippine National Election Day.
As early as 6 in the morning, the polling precincts opens its time to vote and scheduled to end by 7 in the evening.
Hubby and I planned ahead that we should have our own written list of the officials we wanted to vote. So I do write in two separate papers the local officials we both agreed to choose and do our own listings in the national officials. But we change our minds in the voting precincts, it depends on us. We never really push each other who to choose and we never discuss politics that much. We agree to browse the internet, watch the TV and videos on internet and hear those news on radios. However, we choose to keep our privacy who we want to vote for the national position.
We read a lot on social media that many relationships are broken because of the different candidate they prefer to vote. Our family wayback then never matter who we want to vote. How many elections national and local have passed but we never hate each other for choosing different candidates. That is why I am sadden seeing and hearing those relationships tore apart because they do not support the same candidate. As for me, it doesn't matter because those candidates never knew us personally. At the end of the day, we still make our own decision how to live each day in the society without their support, right?
In the entrance gate it was smooth because we do disinfection and body temperature check. Then going to where to cast my vote is a tough one. We passed by many voters who had their lines to there precinct with minimum safety health protocols. Social distancing was not observe anymore and others are reprimanded for not wearing their face mask properly. Many are complaining and talking about vote buying. I was just listening and observing what they are doing while I play games on my phone and visit the noisecash for a bit. It really took us more than an hour to reach the waiting room beside our polling precinct.
Light feeling to have cast my vote this time. Because last election, I leave my voting precinct because I have work that day at 10am and the queue is slowly moving.
It took a few minutes for me to shade all the candidates that I voted. I want to hurry so I can help too move the lines a bit faster and let another voter to get in. Yet I was too careful in shading because it might lead to become my vote be void.
Finally, after almost two hours, I have cast my vote and I do not want to miss it this year. Because presidential election is the most important one. We are going to choose for the next leader for our country and we all hope for a better a Philippines. We may be divided but for whatever the majority chooses, we all hope to have a better country in his term. We do hope for more improvement in good governance and taking actions to our country's top problems.
