**Farming on my Mind** I wish to go into farming. Both crop and animal farm. But I neither have land nor capital at my current location. **How do I go about it** **Land**: there is school nearby my apartment, the have land lying fallow. I plan to write to them for permission to use the land till its needed. I don't know if that's a good idea. What if they need the land after I have invested on it? **Capital for inputs**: Well, I barely have enough money to take care of the immediate needs of my mom and siblings. How will I get startup capital? I wish to start with Fish production and poultry. On a small scale. I will start with acquiring the land first, and hope an idea comes on how to get the requires capital to start.

Try aquaphonics where you can plant vegies and culture fish at the same time without needing too much space.
Thanks for the suggestion. An integrated fish farming. Can I get more details on this. A resource or guide? What is the capital requirement like. Because that's the most important factor noe. As I don't have start up capital.
It's so exciting to do the things we love and make a profit at the same time. I recommend that you acquire the land first if you plan to plant for large crops. Whether owned or rented. One thing that makes a quick buck is raising rabbits for sale. I don't know if rabbit is normal food in your country. The raising of chickens and eggs is also profitable. I have a small business of potted plants, I plant them and sell them. Ornamental plants, fruit trees and cacti. I also sell plant fertilizers prepared by me. It doesn't generate much profit because I don't have anyone to help me and the place remains closed for a long time. But it is very good to work on that.

Rabbit farming is a profitable business. It has almost no losses and is sold both bunnies and pets and rabbit meat to stores and restaurants. Study that income opportunity and where it can lead you, you know where to find me.
With us rabbit is no longer accepted food and most if the small chickens (all roosters) are sold to feed animals. Eggs is good business indeed and chicken is.
If there's a will there's a way..... If Farming is in your heart I'm sure in due time you will have your own farm. Goat Crabs and Cow is popular here in my place also chicken and pig.
I need to start small. Something that requires little capital to operate. With time and more resources I can expand. But for now, I wish to keep it small. Unless I am lucky enough to have someone sponsor my ideas. And I have never been a lucky guy.

I love the idea of farming, before during our college days my father raised a sow pig, to support our need, especially for my big brother who is during that time a graduating students. We will our father to raised the pig, if we dont have school we are taking care of the pig. It helps a lot to us. For now in the province there was a paddy field that is mortaged to me. I am saving for it. Hopefully this year the rice field will be mine, and i am looking forward about it. By the end of october to noverber will be the harvest time. I need to strive and works hard for the balance amount of money.

This is what I have been planning to do too. But i need to have money to invest on agriculture business before I totally resign from my office job. As of now, I have invested some money on my boyfriends business. He is raising goats to be used for goat meat production. And he said, he will buy ducks for egg production. He will sell it or make salted egg out of it. I hope our business will boom as this is my last chance to invest before I resign.

I recommend you acquire the land first, that is the mist important thing then you lay your analysis, but know that you might not succeed after a first trial, so in case you did not really make profit, don't giveup
Chickens are easy and a good investment which you can start on a small base too. They can help themselves to food too but you might need a rooster too plus you won't have eggs whole year own. I once started with two at first for the eggs. If you are allowed to work on the land I assume you will make an agreement for which period and how for example to pay back for the use (crop, poultry or?) I have no idea how to start with fish production but I would never do that on someone else's property. Chickens I can take with me, fish will be harder. Perhaps other farmers can help you with seeds etc if you work for them and learn what you need to know? There are farming groups/farmers here. Ask them for advice/help.
