**September** is the ninth month of the year, the third of four months to have a length of 30 days, and the fourth of five months to have a length of fewer than 31 days. ***September starts on the same day of the week as December each year but does not end on the same day of the week as any other month in the year.*** September marks the beginning of the Ecclesiastical year in the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the start of the academic year in many countries. The Month September The name September comes from the Latin *septem,* meaning seven, since it was originally the seventh of ten months of the Roman calendar, the calendar of Romulus, which began with March. *The Romans believed that September was looked after by the god of the fire and forge –* ***Vulcan****.
