If you publish your articles when users are at their most ready to consume content, then there really isn't any reason why you shouldn't see a spike in views and engagement unless your content just isn't up to par.
We welcome the change - "Goodbye points, welcome rewarder"
In answer to the question on "what determines the size of the tip" the rewarder responded that the more interesting the article is for the audience (which is probably defined by the number of views, likes, and engagement), the more tip it gets. I think there is a need to improve likes and engagement in your article if you plan on earning more.
Lately, I've been wondering when the best time would be to post a new article in order to get a good reach and engagement from readers. I sit here far away in Africa and often have to keep an eye on the times in the rest of the world where most users are.
Most users are from Asia and Africa. Most countries in Africa are half awake at the same time as me, but what is Asia doing right now... are they still with me? Probably some of you feel the same way, we all have our eyes glued to the screen on our smartphones and computers scattered all over the globe. That's what's so fascinating about the Internet in the end it turns the world into a digital village.
some times I write during the day and then work on my articles and format them a little bit in the evening. And before I go to bed, I publish an article to see if I can already receive and respond to one or two comments. Unfortunately most of the time not, sometimes it starts off slow.
When I wake up in the morning, I quickly visit to check how many notifications there are. Haha.. doesn't it sound a little funny? I also publish another.
Now, finding the best times to post isn’t a guarantee that your post views and engagement will skyrocket. However, it is a more strategic way to gain more insights and better engagement.
When do most people read blogs?
The simple and short answer: mornings.
Those early morning hours are when most people are sipping their coffee, taking in their daily news feed to catch up on what they missed while they were sleeping.
Also, there are a few other moments throughout the day when you'll notice people taking a few minutes to read, like around lunch or after dinner.
What is the best time of the day to publish an article?
In general, these patterns are recommended:
Morning: The hours of 7 am to 9 am tend to be high-traffic before work.
Lunch: 12 pm to 2 pm sees another brief spike as people take a quick break.
After Work: Traffic spikes again between 4 pm and 6 pm before tapering off.
Right timing is not a perfect science
The data above consists of averages and a lot of testing, but that still doesn't mean it's 100 percent accurate.
You should always perform your own testing as your strategies, and contents are going to be unique. You may have to tinker with the timing a little bit, and I hope it's worth the investigation.
The late-night infomercial effect
There is, as you might imagine, a flip side to publishing your posts when your audience is online. It is called "the late-night infomercial effect" - it goes a little something like this:
"When there’s nothing else on, you’re more likely to watch an infomercial.
When there’s little else being tweeted, your tweets are more likely to stand out.
Certain email marketing statistics follow a similar line of thinking. You could see greater open rates and clickthroughs when your email is one of the only ones in the inbox. The data below suggests that 8:00 p.m. to midnight gets the highest opens and clicks.
Being one of the lone voices in the inbox could prove beneficial. The same could be said for blogging. Maybe posting on off hours isn’t all that bad after all?"
Keep in mind, timing is not everything: Consistency is key
As valuable as it can be to get your posts timing right, it’s not everything.
Questions about timing are important, but your posts don't have to be well-received by everyone as soon as they go up. The truth is, your subscribers/readers are always growing and changing. There will always be new and existing users who haven’t been exposed to your best work yet.
Even more vital than timing is consistency, the sense that you will be creating and sharing good content on a regular basis. This is what causes more of your subscribers and readers to actively seek you out between peak times, helping you capture a truly dedicated subscriber base.
Posting one to two blogs daily here on read.cash makes it much easier to be found – and the more you can post, the greater the compound effect on your viewership.
Timing is still something you should think about as you plan and execute your content strategy. After a few months, it will become a much less critical factor.
Instead of speculating about algorithms or just posting and hoping that someone will see your post and engage with it, build on existing knowledge about users' activity and improve your timing so you can increase your engagement.
Thank you for stopping by today and reading my recent thoughts about posting articles. Maybe someone already has some experience and strategy and can tell us what works best! I'd like to hear more about it, so keep the comments coming!
