I have shared my disappointment about their performance on a couple of occasions but they have quickly went from disappointment to excitement. And now my time watching them is well spent at the end. And on the other side of the continent two red cards in as many minutes and an illegal substitution sent AC Roma out of the Italia in a comical style.
Arsenal on a good run of
Arsenal is currently enjoying a good run of form in the Premier League after their ridiculous start to the 2020/21 campaign has turned from ridiculous to sublime.
At first, the Gunners struggled to win a match which pushed them down to the bottom half of the league table. But they have turned their fortune around and have been impressive since after their 3-1 win against Chelsea in the Premier League at the Emirates. The players have been confidence and putting in a good performance in recent weeks that could see them go on a long run of fun.
This run of form has seen Arsenal win 4 matches out of 5, drawing one. They conceded only once in the last 5, keeping clean sheets in their last four EPL matches.
How long will this last? I hope the impressive form will last long, if possible till the end of the season. Feels good to see my favourite team return to winning ways.
A Comedy of Errors
It was an awful Tuesday night for Roma as crashed out of the round 16 of the Coppa Italia in 2-4 (AET) loss to Spezia in a game that had everything from six goals to two red cards within 60 seconds, some incredible misses and one too many substitutions (And, per reports during the match, even if Roma won the game they wouldn't have advanced as they illegally made six substitutions).
Spezia got off a strong start, scoring the opener in the 6th minute through Andrij Galabinov, then Riccardo Saponara added another 9 minutes later to give them a 2-0 lead.
The Giallorossi later equalized 2-2 before fulltime thanks to goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini (penalty) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The encounter proceeded to extra time when Gianluca Mancini received a second booking and 30 seconds later Pau Lopez saw red. Daniele Verde and another Saponara stunner sealed the 4-2 scoreline for Spezia, but Roma would’ve been eliminated regardless, as they got confused and made six substitutions rather than the five that were allowed
I've never seen this in my years of watching football, two red cards within seconds, illegal substitution and errors from the same team.
