With the next voting season upon us, questions continue to be ask all over the world as to why this "Democratic nation" has a two party system. A democratic nation by definition is one in which the citizens get to have a say in all matters equally and can vote to any party they wish to vote for including the fact that everyone has constitutional right to form a political party and run for president. This is evident in most countries wherein there are countless political parties and massive diversity, the question is shouldn't citizens have as many options to choose from as the formal party they want to vote for and why is it different in America.
Political parties in the United States are dominated by two parties dating back from the 1850s. The two parties are the democratic party and the republic party. The truth is that the reason for the popularity of the two party system is that it is culture and historic norm rooted deep from the beginning. The truth is that there are other smaller parties but they do not make it to the top because of the common culture that there can only be two however the idea of having multiple parties would give the voters enough options and also bring massive competition to the political arena meanwhile creating opportunities.
