If there is anything that the global pandemic has exposed is the flaws in the traditional financial system. Amid massive stockpiling of food and cash for emergency situations by consumers, some banks have scrambled to secure their reserves going as far as restricting consumers from withdrawing desired amounts of cash to massive and historic policy changes which saw central banks create money out of thin air.
This has led to the question of what defines money and how value should be maintained. Money should be legal tender which holds value and can be exchanged for goods and services. However recent events have proved that money is what the people say it is meaning that the people could always wake to pick another commodity and give it the status of money which will work upon mutual agreement between the people. This is evident in the recent evolution of cryptocurrencies which today possess massive value because the people agreed that they contain value by deciding to purchase and trade them.
Traditional Currency
Over the past decade the US dollar has been at an ever decreasing of value (Inflation), this has resulted in the precious metals such as Gold and Silver rallying up to historic levels as the US dollar falls to historic levels.
To address the elephant in the room when it comes to the question of who controls your money, the answer is the bankers, Politicians and lastly not you !! It has been proven repeatedly that the bankers control your money because they can freeze your money anytime they feel the need to do so and the politicians control your money because they make the rules "He who has the gold makes the rules". People need to make out their definition of money and use that to secure their own, other people might opt for the precious medals given their track record while others might take cryptocurrencies to secure their wealth and protect themselves from the dangers of inflation.
