Time.
It seems we never have enough of it when we need it, yet when it's all we have we feel like it drags on endlessly.
I have mixed thought about the concept of time. I believe that we live life to the fullest when we are completely in the moment. This is, however, easier said than done. Some people spend a lifetime honing their minds to just be in the moment, fully present. Others seem to be in the moment only, and never plan for the future, to their detriment. So, how do we find the balance of what is best?
This is a very personal matter, as there is no cookie cutter scheme for how to make this right for your own self. We all must find what our balance is. Here are a few of the steps that I follow to help balance the time in my days and nights:
1. Prioritize the importance of everything
This can be as simple as deciding what is more important, work or sleep? Fun or eating? These are basic needs that we have to ensure our lives continue on. Make a mental list of what is important to YOU, and then take it from there.
2. Focus your mind on the priority
The ability to be present in what you are doing is not as easy as it may initially sound. There are many distractions in our every day lives, and we must learn how to handle them (we all know they don't just go away when we want them to). Learn how to accept what is happening without letting it take you up in its grasp and shake your focus on living a full life. Stay true to your focus while letting all else pass through you.
3. Smile
This is yet another thing that sounds so easy, although when we are busy we forget to smile, to stop and enjoy the world around us. No matter where we are, there can always be some beauty we can find if we want to. Smile at happy thoughts and memories. Smile at a kind deed. Smile when you realize you can let a nuisance pass you by without entangling you. Just smile. As life stays busy, I find these small truths to help me when I start to feel overwhelmed, and it allows me to stay focused on what really matters to me. I encourage each and every one of you to do the same, and to enjoy each day and night of you life!
This is another motivating piece... Great article.
