No one is born a leader, but anyone can be a true leader. If there is one thing behind every successful story, then that is when a person still chose to lead the group on the most crucial moments when no one else does. That is the time when a true leader emerges on that individual.
Being a leader is not based in our own pre-conceived understanding about ourselves. Just because you see yourself as the one who's on top doesn't mean you can act superiorly. Being a leader is like proving yourself that you can really bring out the best in yourself and your people. And also being a true leader is not just all about leading your people towards a certain goal, it is about being consistent in bringing the group towards accomplishing a certain goal. Even if that goal is too difficult to begin with, a true leader can still manage to face and encourage the team to continue.
For me, a true leader does not set out to be just a leader for convenience. Rather, they set out to make a great difference with the help of the people supporting them. For them, leadership is not always about the role but always about the goal. When no one else cares, they will.
