Bangladesh is a riverine country and this river has made our country the most prosperous country in the world. According to Bangladesh, there are not many rivers in other countries of the world. These rivers are a mercy of Allah. Bangladesh is surrounded by rivers. Therefore, Bangladesh has fertile land. Rivers originate from springs, lakes and molten ice. Moreover, rain floods the river. The main rivers of Bangladesh originate from the Himalayas and most of them fall into the sea. Main rivers: Padma, Meghna, Jamuna, Brahmaputra, Dhaleshwari, Karnafuli and Surma are the main rivers of Bangladesh. Besides, there are Buriganga, Shitalakshya, Gamati, Teesta, Atrai, Karateya, Mahananda, Madhumati and many other rivers. The river is very helpful to us. Our agriculture is dependent on rivers. The river supplies water and fertilizes the land with silt. Thus helps in the production of paddy, jute, wheat and other grains. Rivers also help us to irrigate our water. Rivers are a great source of resources. The rivers are full of fish. Fish is an important food of our country. Many make a living by fishing in the river. River is an important means of transportation. Boats, launches and steamers ply the river in all seasons. The river is not an unmixed blessing. At times, it even flooded our homes and livestock. These cause us a lot of trouble and loss. It causes floods and destroys lives and property. Thus, these become the curse of man. Despite the destructive work, the rivers are a great blessing for us. Without these, Bangladesh could not be developed and integrated. These are the best resources of Bangladesh.
