While you are in Mecca, take some time to explore the beautiful city. Here is a list of some of the places to visit in Mecca.

Jabal Al Nour

Also known as the Mountain of Light, the Cave of Hira is located atop the Jabal Al Noor. Cave Hira is where Prophet Mohammed received his first revelation from god by the angel Jebril.

Jannat Al Mu’alla

Jannat Al Mu’alla is a famous burial site where many of the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH)’s ancestors are buried such as his mother (Aminah), grandfather (Abdul Muttalib) and first wife (Khadijah).

Masjid Al Jinn

Built in 1700’s, the mosque is located next to Jannat Al Mu’alla. Also known as the Masjid Bayah, Masjid Haras, Mosque of Allegiance or Mosque of Guards, it is here that Prohphet Mohamed (PBUH) recited the Quran to the jinn tribe and they embraced Islam.

Masjid e Taneem / Masjid Aisha

Also known as the Masjid e Taneem, this is the second largest mosque in Mecca. It is located approximately 8 miles from the Masjid Al Haram. It  is a popular destination for pilgrims, and locals who are beginning their Hajj or Umrah journey as this is a Meeqat point for those residing in Mecca.

Masjid Aisha has a lot of significance. This is where Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH), prepared to enter the state of Ihram.

Jabal Thawr

The Jabal Thawr, is one of the mountains, that surrounds Mecca. The cave in which Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) took refuge for 3 days and nights from the Quraish tribe is located on the Jabal Thawr. To protect them from their enemies, Allah (SWT) had a spider spin a web at the entrance of the cave, thereby, protecting them from the Quraish tribe.

Muzdalifah

Masjid Mashar Al-Haram is located at Muzdalifah. It marks the spot where Prophet (PBUH) stayed during his farewell pilgrimage. During the farewell pilgrimage, Prophet Mohamed performed Maghrib and I’sha together and spent the night at Masjid Mashar Al-Haram.

Jabal Al-Rehmat

Jabal Al-Rehmat or the ‘Mount of Mercy’ is located at Arafat. It is a small hill where Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) delivered his farewell sermon. Today, there is a small white pillar where Prophet Mohamed stood and delivered his sermon more than 14 centuries ago.
