I want to share my experience when we had our Word Game inside our classroom as part of learning how to be a future educator. It was indeed fun and everyone seems to like it. And now, I want share what happened that day.
Language learning is a hard task which can sometimes be frustrating. Constant effort is required to understand, produce, and manipulate the target language. Games have proven to have advantages and effectiveness in learning vocabulary in various ways:
*Games bring in relaxation and fun for students, thus help them learn and retain new words more easily.
*Games usually involve friendly competition and they keep learners interested.
*Vocabulary games bring real world context into the classroom and enhance students' use of English in a flexible, communicative way.
*Games are highly motivating and they give students more opportunity to express their opinions and feelings.
*Games add diversion to the regular classroom activities," break the ice", but they are also used to introduce new ideas. Games are often associated with fun. While it is true that games are usually fun, one must not lose sight of their pedagogical value, particularly in second language teaching (Wright, Betteridge and Buckby 2002)
In the past few days, our Instructor in the subject Technology for Teaching 1, gave us a task which is to make a word game in connection with the subject. Our class, the BEED-2 was divided to a groups containing 5 members. The said activity was full of excitement, it didn't just bring a joyful thought but it also sharpens the mind of every individuals regarding the lessons related to ICT, Digital Learning and etc.
Last 14th and 19th day of August, the groups were now given the chance to present the word game they have choose and let the other groups play it. The word games in our class didn't have the same way how to play the game, there are variety of them. In such, the time has come and me, together with my group mates present our game entitled "Unscramble the Sentence", where all the remaining groups participated. In short, everyone played the word game we've made. All the games are all fun.
In generalization, the games brought fun and it also help us to sharpen our critical thinking enable to answers all the word game. Through the game also, the team building is the highlight of all.
