I'm just wondering where Oda (the author of One Piece Anime) based Zoan DF Hito Hito no Mi - Mythical Model Nika. Because if you'll look at all the known MYTHICAL Zoan Devil Fruit Users, they're all based on mythical creatures/religious figures.

Marco - Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, a Mythical Zoan-type DF that allows him to transform into a phoenix, a mythical bird of Greek/Egyptian mythology

Sengoku - Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, a Mythical Zoan-type DF that allows him to transform into a giant golden Buddha, founder of Buddhism.

Kaido - Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, a Mythical Zoan-type DF that allows him to transform into a full serpentine Azure Dragon or Qinglong of Chinese Mythology or Seiryu of Japanese mythology

Orochi - Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Yamata no Orochi, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a full eight-headed snake or Yamata-No-Orochi of Japanese Mythology.

Catarina Devon - Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune, a Mythical Zoan-type DF that allows her to transform into a nine-tailed fox or Kyubi no Kitsune of Japanese folklore.

Onimaru - is actually a fox who ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo, an Mythical Zoan-type DF that allows him to transform into humanoid form of  full monk yokai or Onyudo (Big Monk) of Japanese folklore.

Yamato - Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a divine wolf or Ooguchi Makami, a real extinct Japanese wolf that has beed traditionally worshipped as a sacred beast in Japan.

For Luffy's Hito Hito no mi Model Nika, the closest basis I think was of Mayan Mythology "Kinich Ahau" or Ah kin.

"Ah Kin is the Mayan sun god, he is the youthful suitor of the Monn goddess Acna. Ah Kin is feared as the bringer of droughts, but protects mankind from the evil powers associated with darkness. At night he is carried through the underworld on the back of the god Sucunyum. Ak Kin was worshipped at sunrise, incense was often burnt at these rituals. Ah Kin means 'he of the sun'."

Try to read Ah Kin backwards it says,

"nik ha" (Nika)
