Don't let life slip down the drain
Brain drain: from elementary school through college, we undergo a lengthy process of education. This encourages critical thinking and helps us reach a higher intellectual level. This contributes to the development of better societies and, ultimately, a better nation. By resolving current obstacles and problems, our evolved minds contribute to positive improvements in society. It's comparable to an investment.
The government invests thousands of crores in high-quality institutions such as IIM, IIT, and others ( from public money). When establishing a nation, one must consider the institutions from which intelligent people will emerge and act in ways that will affect our cultures and, ultimately, our nation. However, individuals from these institutions become so intelligent that they outwit the entire nation and demonstrate their intelligence in other superior countries, i.e. they use their intellect to solve the problems of another nation.
This is a particularly acute problem in emerging countries when the best and brightest depart in search of stability rather than nation-building. Rather than toiling hard in a frequently fruitless endeavor to reform and enhance their native country, clever people prefer to apply their talents in ways they believe will not be wasted and will provide them with a prosperous existence.
Because the ruling elite and their prominent lackeys wish to maintain their influence and lifestyle, arming their supporters with valuable information and a more radical way of thinking will never be on their public agenda. Brain drain and dumbing down of society are inextricably linked. When more bright Filipinos choose to work overseas, they are effectively expressing that the Philippines is unworthy of their innate skills. The educational system should serve as a mirror and a vacuum for identifying and developing solutions to the country's long-term problems, but in reality, it serves as a launchpad for personal ambitions to rocket away from immediate societal concerns and toward a bright, distant star of personal glory and status. Can you blame the majority of individuals for thinking this way WHEN THIS COUNTRY'S RUNNING CLASS HAS THIS OVERALL PERSPECTIVE ON THE PHILIPPINES? Rent pursuing government positions to advance their agendas is the zeitgeist of Philippine politics and big business.
By assuming lofty and strategic positions in Filipino society and expanding their presence through noxious privileges, the Filipino creme de la creme squeezes out aspiring professionals with the knowledge and heart to improve existing conditions, whether small or large, infrastructure- or social-related. Brain drain in the Philippines is a personal statement for many who believe they lack a genuine place, voice, and autonomy in their homeland.
