One of the most effective ways healthcare workers or the coronavirus frontline workers can be safe is by wearing virus protection clothing.  Personal protective equipment or PPE acts as a protective barrier against disease-causing viruses, which are often secreted by the patients in the form of droplets while they cough or sneeze. A coronavirus is a highly contagious disease that can even be fatal, it is essential to wear proper protective clothing while caring for or treating Covid19 patients. Virus protection clothing includes gloves, gowns, facemasks, aprons, boots, eyewear, and so forth. So, does everyone need to wear virus protection clothing, or should only healthcare workers wear it?

Significance of wearing protective gear

The recent global coronavirus pandemic has turned the entire world system topsy-turvy with its highly contagious feature and death toll. Though it originated in a wet market in China, it spread to the entire world within a few months, infecting billions with the exponential growth of death rate in several countries such as the USA, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Iran.

The novel coronavirus continues to spread all across the countries in the world with health officials stepping up efforts to contain the pandemic through various channels. As the virus is known to spread through the droplets of the infected people, which include mucus and saliva, it is important to wear protective clothing while you are in close contact with them. This is precisely the reason doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals need to wear PPE while treating or caring for a COVID positive patient.

According to medical research, the deadly virus can stay suspended in the air for more than 10 minutes when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It is also believed that an asymptomatic person can also be contagious which is why it is necessary to wear facemasks and gloves when you are in a public place.

To protect your loved ones and yourself from the coronavirus, you need to follow the standard protocol of social distancing, wearing protective facemasks, washing your hands frequently with soap and water, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, covering your face with a tissue or sneezing into your elbow while you are at a public place. All these measures will help to reduce the risk of transmission and slow down the progress of the contagion. Though a complete lockdown or restricted movement can seldom halt the spread of this contagious disease, it will slow down the process of mass infection. It will also limit the amount of strain on the medical infrastructural facilities, which are quite limited even in advanced countries.

Due to the alarming rise in coronavirus cases across the globe, there has been a substantial shortage of virus protective clothing, which is extremely essential for healthcare frontline workers. Today, millions of companies across the globe have initiated the process of manufacturing protective gear to safeguard human lives.
