Elon Musk: Work from morning to evening 7 days a week
Elon Musk says he's overworked.
"I've got too much on my plate, that's for sure," Musk said Monday while answering questions during a session at the B20 in Indonesia, a business conference running alongside the G20 meeting in Bali this week. "I work absolutely as much as I can - from morning to night, seven days a week."
The newly installed "Chief Twit" of Twitter Inc. broadcast to the conference via video link. The comments come as Musk brings his unique brand of management to the social media platform and laid off nearly 3,700 people more than a week ago.
He has since backtracked on some of those firings, but also rescinded the company's work-from-home policy. Musk's opposition to telecommuting is well-documented, with employees at Tesla Inc. they said to "pretend to work somewhere else" if they wanted to work from home. He has also been known to sleep on the job or even in a factory.
How hard Musk works was the most consistent theme of Monday's sometimes rambunctious conversation at B20. It was made even more surreal by Musk's darkened background and dim lighting. The billionaire, dressed in an Indonesian batik-print shirt sent to him by organizers, said the power had been cut at his venue, which was not disclosed.
Musk currently runs Twitter, Tesla and SpaceX. He also founded a tunneling company, The Boring Co. and technology firm Neuralink Corp.
"The amount I torture myself with is next level, honestly," the world's richest man said Monday.
