The United States and China are more concerned about the Cold War than Corona;

Influential US economist Jeffrey Sax has commented that the growing Cold War between the US and China will be of greater concern to the world than the coronavirus. In an interview with the BBC Online, Jeffrey said that the world was going to face a huge hurdle without leadership in the aftermath of the Corona epidemic. He warned that the division between the two superpowers would only exacerbate it.

The Columbia University professor blames the US administration for the animosity between the two countries. In an interview with the BBC's Asia Business report, he said the US was for power-sharing, not cooperation.

"The United States is trying to start a new Cold War with China. If they do that, they will use force in this way, but we will not go back to normalcy. In fact, we will have more controversy and more danger," Jeffrey said.

Relations between the United States and China have recently been heated over a number of issues, not just trade. This week, US President Trump signed legislation approving US sanctions against Chinese officials responsible for the persecution of Muslims in Xinjiang province. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, President Trump said he believes China has influenced the global spread of the virus as a way to destabilize the competitive economy.

The Trump administration has also targeted Chinese companies. In particular, the Chinese telecom giant Huawei. Washington alleges that Huawei helped Beijing spy on US citizens. Both China and Huawei have denied the allegations. However, former US National Security Adviser John Bolton has leaked some of this arrogance. Trump's tough stance against China and Huawei is probably part of a political strategy to get re-elected, according to a book he wrote.
