Robi's CEO has been appointed as the director of Ncell in Nepal

Robi Axiata Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Mahtab Uddin Ahmed has been appointed as the Director of Ncell, Nepal's top mobile phone operator. Ncell's board of directors recently approved the appointment.

Malaysia Axiata Group is the majority partner of Robi in Bangladesh and Ncell in Nepal.

Axiata has a majority stake in leading mobile and fixed operators in ASEAN and South Asia, including Malaysia's Cellcom, Indonesia's XL, Sri Lanka's Dialogue, Bangladesh's Robi, Cambodia's Smart and Nepal's Ncell.

According to a press release, Mahtab took over as MD and CEO of Robi on November 1, 2016. He is the first local CEO of Robi. He joined Robi as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in September 2010 and held the post till 2014. He then served as Robi's Chief Operating Officer (COO) from April 2014 to March 2017.

Prior to joining Robi, Mahtab held various top positions at Unilever for 18 years. He has held various important positions in Business and Finance including Finance Director, Group Finance Controller at Unilever Pakistan, Unilever Arab and Unilever Bangladesh.

Harvard Business School alumni Mahtab holds a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from Dhaka University. He is also an FCMA and CGMA of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK).

Mahtab is currently the President of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) and a member of the Executive Committee of the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also a member of the National Council of Institutes of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
