Mukesh Ambani in the top 10 richest list
Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, is ranked in the top 10 richest people in the world with a fortune of 74.5 billion. He is currently ranked No. 9 on the list, according to Bloomberg. Mukesh Ambani holds 42% of the company's shares.
Jayati Ghosh, chairman of the Center for Economic Studies and Planning at Jawaharlal Nehru University, said Ambani's companies had done well where the Indian economy had almost reached the brink of collapse due to the lockdown. Especially telecom giant Geo. Ambani's personal wealth has also grown significantly as the company's business has grown.
According to a report, by 2025, 48 per cent of India's mobile users will be covered by Geo platforms.
Mukesh Ambani started a family business in the early 1980s. After a year at Stanford Business School, his father Dhirubhai Ambani called him to India to oversee the construction of a polyester factory.
Dhirubhai died in 2002 without parting ways with the huge business empire in the textiles, textiles and energy sectors. As a result, a conflict arose between the two brothers Mukesh and Anil Ambani. Later, the business was split between the two brothers through the mediation of mother Kokilaben Ambani.
