Farmers

Novel coronavirus (Cavid-19) has reduced animal sales. Farmers are worried about the situation on the coming Eid-ul-Adha. Many are skeptical about whether the money invested in the farm will rise. However, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim has promised to help the farmers.

Tanvir Hossain, a farmer from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah, has raised 20 cows for sale on Eid-ul-Adha. But the Corona situation has made him anxious. So if he cannot sell cows in the Eid market or if he does not get a suitable price, he will lose a large amount.

However, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim said emphasis was being laid on proper implementation of incentive packages for farmers affected by the novel coronavirus situation. Besides, the farmers will be assisted in transporting and selling animals on the coming Eid-ul-Adha.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shah Imran, president of the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association, says in the Corona situation, livestock sales have fallen by 70 per cent in the last two months. The crisis may escalate further as the economic condition of the people deteriorates. And which will also affect the sacrificial animal market. So that a large number of farms have been affected.

After the import of cattle from India stopped a few years ago, many people became interested in building farms. It has also increased employment in this sector. However, various uncertainties have been created in the Corona situation.
