48,000 crore supplementary budget passed

A supplementary budget of Tk 46,517.11 crore for the outgoing 2019-20 fiscal year has been passed in Parliament.

The budget is passed with the approval of the ministries or departments of the government which have spent more than their original allocation.

Finance Minister Aham Mustafa Kamal raised the 'Specification (Supplementary) Bill-2020' in Parliament. The bill was later passed by voice vote.

The supplementary bill was introduced in the fiscal year ending June 30 to provide more expenditure and 'authorization authority' from the consolidated funds for execution.

Opposition Jatiya Party, BNP and Gana Forum MPs proposed 18 cuts on the supplementary budget
