Look at that.
Those are stars. Some are dimmer, some are brighter, some are in tight-knit cluster, some surrounded by visual silence.
That cluster in the top-right is the Pleiades Cluster, or M45. Look at it.
I don't think anyone can answer why with accuracy, but the stars are just a reminder that we are not alone, and we are not everything. Each and every single one of those spots is a huge sun, maybe it has planets, maybe those planets have continents like ours, maybe those continents have civilizations, culture, language, science.
Your question isn't really answerable, you should ask it to yourself, you determine why the stars mesmerize you. To me, it's the sheer vastness and complexity. To you, it might be the visual appearance, or the aliens, I don't know.
Either way, the stars are there to remind us that we are surrounded by an apparently limitless universe with an infinite amount of stars, and maybe other species like us. They make us think. So much so we even use them as omens, or for superstition.
So the next time you're outside on a clear night, look up, and notice.
