Introduction

You’ve probably heard about Substack, the Medium killer as some people have labeled it. But what exactly are Medium and Substack, what makes them different, and why should you choose one over the other in 2022? In this article, we’ll do a brief comparison between these two content platforms and let you decide which one will be the better choice.

Since the launch of Substack, writers have been able to monetize their work by distributing their content on the platform. This is possible because Substack provides a distribution system for newsletters. Unlike publications that may take up to one year to publish an email newsletter, Substack distributes the newsletter within minutes. Readers are also able to subscribe and unsubscribe through the website which eliminates spam emails and makes it easier for writers to collect revenue from their subscribers.

What is Substack?

Substack is an American online platform that provides the infrastructure to support subscription newsletters. Founded in 2017, it aims to create a safe, reliable, and enjoyable place for writers and readers. The company has offices in San Francisco and New York City.

The company's tools include analytics, domain authority, internal distribution through email or RSS feeds, design infrastructure for the right-handed majority of users (and left-handed minority), and subscription newsletters. It is currently available as a free service with some paid features available as well.

What are the pros and cons of Substack?

  • -Domain authority The domain authority of Substack is not as high as Medium.

  • -Internal distribution Substack does not have an internal distribution and its content does not show up on Google Search.

  • -Design infrastructure Subscription newsletters are more complicated than blogs, so the design infrastructure needs to be stronger.

  • -Subscription newsletters are more personal and less public than blogs. This may appeal to people who want a more intimate reading experience. Subscriptions often require personal information and this could deter some readers from signing up for the newsletter in the first place.

  • -Medium has a very thorough stats page available on there analytics which shows you stats like views and even detailed stats like external traffic sources as well are present for writers to read on the other hand Substack only shows you the number of emails delivered on their stats page.

  • -Both Medium and Substack use stripes payment gateway for paying there writers money this is a con because many countries are not included in the list of countries having option of Stripes.

Medium vs Substack: Which writing platform to pick in 2022 and why?

Medium is a popular social networking site and publishing platform and has a higher domain authority than Substack. Substack also offers internal distribution and infrastructure that supports subscription newsletters. However, both of these platforms have their pros and cons, so which one is right for you is determined by your needs.

I already have heard about medium but it is not possible to make an account until you don't have a US or Canadian number which is not in my access so it might be pretty good to be have a medium account.

I think if you don't have a relative in the USA then maybe try sms24.me website for getting an SMS to a selected USA number for stripes connectivity hope this helps in the phone requirement. For USA bank account details you can easily put your Payoneer USA bank details.
