As the weeks go by, the military conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh continues. Meanwhile, more than 230 people have lost their lives in the military conflict between the two countries.

The Armenian army has claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack on Ganje, Azerbaijan's second-largest city. Azeri's defense minister also blamed shelling on two other towns on the Nagorno-Karabakh border. This has led to fears that the war situation between the two countries could worsen.

Armenia has denied Azerbaijan's claim. However, in Nagorno-Karabakh, the head of the Armenians who supported them, Araik Harutiunyan, admitted to attacking an air base in Ganj. He retaliated by saying that the Azerbaijani army had fired rockets at civilians in the main town of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepankiert.

Earlier, Azerbaijan demanded the capture of one town and seven villages in the disputed region. On the other hand, Armenia said that all means will be used to protect Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry spokeswoman Susan Stepanian also claimed that three planes had been shot down, although Baku denied the allegations. Meanwhile, France tried to mediate a ceasefire, but it did not work. Both sides have said they will continue fighting.

Clashes erupted between the two neighboring states last Sunday over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. The two countries have been at loggerheads in the region since the fall of the Soviet Union. In the 1990s, the Armenian ethnic group occupied Karabakh from Azerbaijan. The conflict spread at that time. The war started, so that 30,000 people lost their lives.

Although the conflict between the two sides ended in a direct ceasefire agreement in 1994, the dispute between the two countries continued. Azerbaijan has repeatedly threatened to retake its territory. Regional powers such as Turkey and Russia are feared to be involved in the renewed conflict last Sunday. Meanwhile, Turkey has directly sided with Azerbaijan.
