Reading period can be defined as a personal reading carried out by students on their own after their normal lectures,most especially University students who choose to make a good GPA.Reading period can also be seen as a period in a student's time table,where a student may undertake self directed learning activities with his/ her reading group partners, rather than choosing to dump their lectures note after their daily lectures.Reading period plays a very important part in the life of a serious student,who wants to make a good GPA and also for his/her friends.Students who takes part in this kind of activity can never fail to graduate with a first class or second class upper.In examination,test and quizzes it helps a lot.And this can equally be a good thing for such kind of student, when it comes to unexpected quizzes by lecturers who don't announce their test or examination.That is why,as a university student you must strife to aim higher.Not just, depending on what your lecturers taught you.Don't take partying to be your studies.Because that Time you suppose to be reading,you will be waisting it to visit useless places.
Even if you don't read in your house, every tertiary institution has made provision for library for library meant for students,then you can always draw out your plan and set your personal reading time table.Reading time table can be categorize into morning, afternoon and night.Every individual has various time in a day in which they can read best,then as a student, you need to realize who you are and the perfect time you can read well without distraction.Anytime you have a free lecture, just try and reach out to make use of that time.Before you begin your reading always pray first, because in everything you do always remember God.Then if you are good at reading in the morning, take a long night sleep in order to fit well for your morning reading.Afternoon reader,fix your nap from 11'o clock and make sure you wake up at exactly when it is one hour.A night reader, should always find a period in the afternoon to rest in order to make sure, you are prepared for your night reading.Every student in the university feels like a free dog released from a chain.No you have greater task when you are in school but immediately you are done with your final year , you can be free to do whatever you want to do.Please my fellow students learn how to manage your free period,by involving in a reading period.All the enjoyment you long for,won't take you anywhere.Strife first for a good completion of your program,then after you can do anything you want to do,after your University education.Take little Time and acquire a great knowledge, because a Time well spent,is a knowledge well acquired.Continue of  managing your reading period as a university student.Every student who will want to bash out with a first or second class upper.Must always have it in mind that determination and focus makes one to succeed.That's why as a university student, you must make sure you put everything that will distract you aside and make use of your reading period well.Reading which is seen as a process of mental thinking and visualizing it through the process of writing it down.Certain organs involved in the process of reading includes:The brain,eyes and other interpretative signs.That's why you need to avoid unnecessary thinking, when you are about to read.due to this am going to take you through the process of preparing for your reading and those preparation methods includes;1.know the purpose of you indulging into reading, before we read there must have been a reason for involving into it.So that's why it is necessary to first discover the purpose of your reading.2. Realise the aim of your reading, how will it be of help to you.3. Read for information gathering, read in Order to know more about the information you need,thereby taking down important points about the information, knowing the particular information you are in need of,apply the method of reading that will be favourable to you.And in this process,the skimming method would be the best.3.Understand the whole content of the information you have gathered and make sure you pass it out in a proper way .
There are various types of reading methods and the includes:The speed reading.The scanning.The skimming.Study reading that is applicable to the free period of reading by student after lectures,it could be done individually or with reading group.Critical reading, trying to figure out what the book or lecture note is all about.Leisure reading,this is a way of engaging yourself in a non academic work by reading a story book or novel
What happens when you engaged yourself in reading.There are various ways that reading helps us and this includes;It helps to increase our knowledge.Reading helps us in our didactic experience.It helps to enrich our mind.It is a form of recreation.It helps us to build a relationship with people we have read about.It helps to boost employment in our daily life.It helps in our academic pursuit.It helps to add value to our spiritual growth.
In order to ensure a good reading skill, two, strategies have been put in place and the involves;1. SQ3R which means Survey, Question,Read ,Recite and Review.2. OK4R which represents; Overview,Key points, Read,Recite, Reflect and Review.
We ought to make good use of our study Time seriously, following the guidelines above can be of good help.Learn to read.And then you will be a great leader.Because a good reader is a great leader.
