My name is Charlotte and this is my story….

Have you ever met a friend who can’t survive a day without music?

*

This happened on cold and quiet Friday evening,I had my headphones clogged to my ears with my head rested on my pillow,my eyes we’re shut as I concentrated on one of my favorite track from BTS k-pop’s album..

*

Blissful smiles we’re written all of my face as i hummed along,I felt out of this world,I imagined myself outta space trying to picture myself singing to a huge crowd,I imagined people yelling my name as I performed on stage until another noise like the sound of a carpenter hitting a nail into a wood made me flick my eyes open..

*

I quickly remove the headphones been curious…

*

CHARLOTTE!!!(I heard my little sister yelling my name with a loud bang)…

*

CHARLOTTE MUM’S HOME(she yelled along with a bang)…

*

I quickly pause the song and threw the headphones on the bed as I hasten towards the door…

*

I pulled the door open where she was about hitting the door with the baseball bat she was holding…

*

Charlotte: hannah!,why are you banging on my door like that?( a little bit annoyed)..

*

She stared at me for a second before opening her mouth to speak..

*

Hannah: mum’s back and she asked me to call you downstairs…(she said coldly)

*

I quickly slammed the door to her face as I walked back into my room,i breathe a long sigh as i rested my back on the door

*

Am known a kind hearted person and am also a short tempered person, no matter how you frustrate me I walk away or ignore you, and whenever I realized am getting annoyed I quickly walk away…

*

But my little sister?

Gosh, the little devil,sometimes I wish I can just kill her overnight and bury her at the backyard before anyone wakes up…

*

I quickly arranged my already messy before walking out of my room..

*

I jogged down the tiled spiral staircase where I saw my mum walking up..

*

Charlotte: hi mum (I said with a wide grin)..

*

Mum: how are you sweetheart (placing a kiss on my forehead)

*

Charlotte: mummy please can you warn Hannah to stop hitting my door with that baseball bat?..

*

Mum: I already did(with her hands cupped to my both cheeks).. please help me go bring the stuffs I bought from the car(as she jogged upstairs)

I arrived at the living room where I saw my sister fully concentrated on the TV show she’s was watching on Nickelodeon…

*

Immediately i opened the front door I felt the cold swept through my skin,I quickly slammed the door shut..

*

Charlotte: damn it’s cold(as I massaged my shoulders with my palms)…

*

I’ve been indoor since morning and I never realized how cold outside would be..

*

Ever since my mum,my sister and I moved into this neighborhood four days ago,I’ve never stepped a foot outside..

*

I think I grew up finding the joy of locking myself in room, either listening to music, playing soft tunes from my guitar, drawing or playing with shine…

*

Shine is the name of my dog 🐕,I named her shine because of the glittering strap I saw on her neck before I purchased her from the pet store where we once lived in LA(Los Angeles)..

*

We moved down Nigeria after my mum broke up with her American boyfriend, she discovered he had another family outside..sad right?

*

Lucky enough my mum was independent,she works as a manager in a real estate firm…

*

After she gathered enough money, one day she dropped her resignation letter and made plans to establish her business where she was born Nigeria…

*

Where she worked in LA,she was known and praised for her hard work which made her got promoted with a huge increase in her salary…

*

Her boss asked if there is anything he did wrong that made her resign,he pleaded for her to stay and even promise to double her salary…

*

She was tempted to stay back because of the love the company showered on her but she explained her reasons for leaving…

*

One her day off exit,she was celebrated like a VIP,lots of gift we’re given to her,cash,a car,houses and other valuable things…

*

She got home and told the news to my sister and I at dinner that we would be leaving for Africa…

*

*

She had no trouble finding a house in Nigeria because she was given a beautiful house in one of the most expensive neighborhood in Lagos…

Back to the story

I hurridly ran down into the luxerous parking lot where my mum parked the beautiful range rover…

*

I pulled the handle to the back door and saw two branded nylons filled with things she bought from the mall..

*

Carefully I lifted the nylons and slammed the door shut..

*

Sean’s POV

*

*

Where I sat fully concentrated in practicing my guitar,I raised up my head to see mark(my best friend), sitting opposite a large screen as he was busy playing video game with headphones clogged to his ears…

*

A smile crossed my lips when I realized his trying his best to beat my high score of the game(zombie killer)…

*

A buzz from my phone made me suddenly distracted…

*

I picked up the phone and saw a text from an unknown number…

*

UNKNOWN NUMBER:hi Sean this is venita from school…

*

I hissed and threw the phone aside..

*

I could see the word GAME OVERon the TV screen already,he dropped his wireless pad in frustration,he took off his headphone and turn to look at me..

*

Mark: hey Sean,what says the time?..

*

Sean: uhh(as I viewed my wristwatch) past seven (I replied)..

*

Mark: damn,I have to get going (as he got up)..but I promise you,when next I come I’ll beat your High score, I’ll show you am the best..

*

Sean: okay,am not bragging but at least am leading now(I said with a smile as I got up)..

*

He picked up his jacket where he hung it and head towards the door..

*

Mark, Mitchell and I have been friends from childhood,in school we we’re known as the three musketeers,we share all secrets together, Mitchell is a tomboy but she still share her girly secret with us,we play video games together,mock teachers,sing together and we all stay few blocks away from each other…

*

We all what Nigerians calls BURTY children,we live in one of the most beautiful and expensive neighborhood in Lagos State, neighborhood with glass buildings,garden filled with flowers, beautiful driveways,a neighborhood with a large park for kids and parents to have fun during weekends, neighborhood mixed with white and blacks,it funny how most of us living in this neighborhood don’t know our national musicians like the likes davido,wiskid,fireboy because our parents are wealthy to the international base…

Mark and I did our signature way of greeting by hitting our knuckles to the left, right,up, down, center and make a funny face…

*

There was a time my mum almost got freaked out when she caught us greeting that way but my dad and sister just laughed it off..

*

I watched mark as he zoomed off in his little, green car..

*

The car might look little but trust me,it f**king expensive….

*

On my way back into the mansion I sighted my leather ball on the grass,I jogged towards it, raised it up with my feet and dropped it on my neck…

My sister suddenly walked out of the house and saw the ball on my neck..

*

Daniella: osheyy yakubu(she teased)…

*

I quickly dropped the ball and turn to glare at her…

*

Sean: please don’t you ever call me yakubu again,this is the Ronaldo of this generation (I said with smirk as I bounced into the house leaving my sister roaring with laughter)…

Romeo’s POV

I had my eyes shut where I lay quietly at the back of the private jet,a white gigantic headphone was clogged to my ears as i listen to intentions by Justin beiber..

The door suddenly opened as the pilot appeared by the doorway…

*

I flicked my eyes open and paused the music…

*

Pilot: uhh sorry I’ve been knocking,I just came to tell you we’ve arrived…

*

Edward: uhg(sigh) okay (I replied)…

*

I pulled open a little wardrobe and brought out a thick white jacket…

*

I slid into a pair of white sneakers, picked up my wireless headphone before walked out of the booth…

*

I walked down the jet along with two securities my dad paid to keep an eye over me..

*

By now the timezone is 9:15pm in Lagos, Nigeria..

I walked down to where a large white limousine was parked outside the airport…

*

One of the security pulled the back door open as I walked in….

Romeo: Lagos, here I come (I thought with a smirk on my cheeks as I clogged the headphone to my ears…

Charlotte’s POV (Saturday 10:05am)

As usual on weekends,am up late,I stayed still for a while staring at the ceiling…

I turned to look at shine who was coiled beside my bed waiting for me to wake…

*

I unplugged my phone and saw tons of messages buzzing on the screen…

*

Obviously from my friends back in LA…

*

Shine suddenly noticed I was awake,she limped up to where I was standing licking my face,I couldn’t help smiling…

*

Charlotte: morning shine (smoothing her curly hairs)…

*

I started replying my messages…

*

I flashed back to my last day of school in Los Before coming here,I already announced to my friends and favorite teachers that I would be leaving…

*

It was an emotional moment for me as a soft hearted person,I had tears flowing down my cheeks as we hugged,my teachers spend a lot of time with me,my best friend (Emma) couldn’t stop crying as we hugged countless times,the principal called me into his office and gave me the most emotional advice ever,I had no choice than to hug him…

*

School finally closed for the day as I received gifts from most of my friends and seniors…

*

The best part was what happened on my way down the hallway….

*

I walked down to my locker to remove everything I had left…

*

One by one I dip them into my bag.

*

HELLO CHARLOTTE!(came a voice as i reacted in fright)…

*

I quickly looked back and realized it was Chris..

*

Chris:(laugh) am sorry to startle you…

*

Chris is one regular guy who has a crush on me since 5th grade up till date, there was a time he asked me out but i declined because I was currently a dating a popular guy from the school football team..

*

I felt really bad but am not a type to double date,later I found out he was cheating on me then I broke up with him…

*

Charlotte: hey Chris (I said in excitement)..been a while.. where have you been?(slamming my locker shut)

*

Chris: I’ve been around, you just didn’t notice me..

Charlotte: (laugh) common don’t say that(as I gave him a punch on the shoulder)

*

Chris: oh less I forget,I have something for you (searching through his bag)..

He brought out a large frame..

It a painting of my smiling face alone…

*

Charlotte: oh…my… God (as I slowly collected it).. you drew this?

Chris: yeah,I imagined your beautiful smile and I drew this for you to keep it in remembrance of me..

*

Charlotte: this is so beautiful (as I pulled him into a hug).. thank you..

Chris: so I heard you’re leaving today (with a sad look on his face)…

*

Charlotte: yeah.. and I must confess,am going to Miss you…

*

Chris: I’ll miss you too(as he stared deep into my blue hazel eyes)..

*

Charlotte: I have to get going now(as I walked few feets away from him)..

*

I felt suddenly bad…I stopped and looked back where he Still stood by my locker staring at me…

Charlotte:(sigh) if I don’t do this I will never forgive myself..

*

In haste I walked back towards where he stood…

He opened his mouth to speak but I stopped him as I placed my lips on his..

*

He froze in shock for a moment before he slowly relaxed as he returned my kiss…

We kissed for 30seconds before I withdrew from him…

Chris: wow(he breathed)..

*

Charlotte: I know I won’t be seeing you again so this is my goodbye to you…

Chris: my goodness you’re such a good kisser(he teased)…

*

I rolled my eyes as I walked away…

*

Chris: hey hold on(he jogged after me)..can I drop you off?..

Charlotte: uhm am not sure(i replied)..my mum’s already waiting for me….

Together we walked out of the school where i saw my mum’s car at the driveway…

*

Shine’s barking suddenly snapped me out of my thought…

*

I turned to where she was waiting for me to open the door…

I opened the door for her to walk out before walking into the bathroom,I looked at my reflection through the mirror…

*

For once I agree,am beautiful,I viewed my long black hair that fell on my shoulder,my sapphire blue eyes,white teeths..

Okay this is getting weird

I quickly brushed my teeth, grabbed my phone and headphone before walking out of my room…

I arrived at the sitting room and saw my mum and sister already having breakfast…

*

Charlotte: mum seriously?… you guys couldn’t call me for breakfast?..(as I grabbed a chair to sit)

*

Mum: by the way we’re going to the movies tonight..(changing the topic)

Hannah:(gasp) really?

*

Mum: uhhuh..

*

Charlotte: mum can you guys go without me?….I don’t really feel like going..

Mum:no.no.no, you are going even if I have to carry you on my back..

*

Hannah:(snort) big baby..

*

Sean’s POV(6:30pm)

Mark, Mitchell and I agreed to go to go see a movie tonight so I decided decided to drive with Mark’s car

We drove down to Mitchell’s house as we sighted her walking out of her house on baggy crazy jean and black T-shirt..

*

Mitchell as the only child of her parents has the freedom to do whatever she likes or go wherever she likes,she lives in a house filled with maids, gardeners and drivers…

And one advantage about her due to the fact that she’s a tomboy, she’s a great dancer with different award and prices in school…

*

Mitchell: hey guys (as she slammed the door to the backseat shut)…

Mark: we’ve been waiting here for the past two months (he joked)

*

Mitchell and i rolled at his regular joke..

*

It was a long drive to the cinema as mark and Mitchell kept talking all through while i remained,well am not much of a talker..

*

We finally arrived as we walked down the busy mall filled with teens of our age taking pictures, nuclear and extended families together with their pets beside them

I realized most of the stores we come across has this one jam playing which blows the mind of everyone.. INTENTIONS BY JUSTIN BEIBER…

Mark: damn am loving this jam(he yelled)

I turned to look at Mitchell who’s already making some dance steps as we walk

Mitchell: 🎵picture perfect, you don’t need to filter🎵

Mark: 🎵shout out to your mum and dad for making you.🎵

I couldn’t help smiling as in joined in singing…

Some passerbys turned to look at with smiles on their faces..

Some of them started taking videos of us while we sing while Mitchell dance…

Charlotte’s POV

I must confess the cinema at night is actually fun and lively,from the window I could see the word SHOPRITE boldly written as my mum found a place to park her car…

We walked into the mall and saw a large crowd of people gathered to a sport as I could hear Justin beiber’s track(intentions) playing..

*

We drew closer as I saw three teens my age singing and dancing to the song..

*

I was suddenly tempted to stop and watch..

I looked at the people beside me who we’re taking videos of them..

*

I found myself humming without realizing I my mum and sister we’re way ahead of me…

Aren’t they cute? (a girl said behind me)..

Charlotte: maybe(I replied without looking at her direction)..

*

My mum suddenly realized am not with them…

*

In panic she turned back and saw me standing like I was hypnotized…

*

Mum: Charlotte?(she yelled)…

*

I turned to look at her with a smile waved in return..

Mum: will you come here?..

*

Charlotte: (sigh) fine.

(I rolled my eyes as I jogged towards her)..

Together we took the elevator..

*

We arrived at the cinema reception and joined the queue…

Charlotte: so mum what kind of movie are we watching?..

*

Mum: I was thinking we see a horror movie…

*

Hannah and I turned at her in shock…

*

Hannah: what?

*

Mum:(laugh) just kidding

*

Charlotte: so what kind of movie are watching?

*

Mum: hold on lemme check, both of you wait here (as she walked down to the reception)..

Sean’s POV

After catching attention and become popular for some minute, Mitchell and I had to drag mark doesn’t wanna leave..

Together we ran all the way to the cinema…

We arrived at the reception and saw a queue where people assembled to pay for their tickets..

There’s a girl standing by the standing with her little sister,her attention was focused on her phone…

*

Sean: wow, she’s got the perfect stature (I thought)..

*

Mark: uhh excuse me,hey(he yelled towards the girl)..

*

Her little sister touched her and pointed towards mark,she turned to look at mark..

*

ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?(she asked)…

*

Mark: no,the ghost beside you dummy.. of course am talking to you..

*

Mitchell suddenly bursted into laughter…

*

Mark: what type of movies are available to watch?..

*

DO I LOOK LIKE THE MANAGER?(she replied).

*

He opened his mouth to bless her with insult but he stopped when a woman came to talk to her who I guess must be her mum…

*

Mark turned back to look at us..

*

Mark: I can’t imagine how somebody will fine but the sense is far,see her neck like our president..(hissed)..

We all bursted into laughter….
