Girlfriend

I slammed my fist on the steering wheel, cursing. Why does she have to be so annoying sometimes. I stayed there for some minutes, hoping to see if she'd come back, but then, knowing the type of person that Jayne was, when she wants to be stubborn, even I now sometimes. And this was one of those 'sommetimes'. I checked the time, 07:21pm. The weather was changing, her house was still far and she was walking home.

'maybe I should drive slowly beside her as she walked....' That sounded like what a really caring boyfriend would do. Or a really desperate boyfriend. It would really annoy her. I smirked, started the car. Yes I was going to really annoy her but I didn't want to look desperate, I turned the car around and headed for home. The rain came down and it made driving difficult.

'call to check if she's alright or if she has gotten home'

'no, don't call. If she needs you, she'll call. Don't massage her ego.'

I didn't ponder on the thoughts much, I did what I felt was correct. I put my phone in silent mode and didn't call.

07:45pm, I drove into the compound, parked the car and turned off the engine but didn't step out just yet. I checked my phone, five missed calls, three were from her. I laughed. Mission accomplished. I decided to send her a text. Of course I still cared about her annoying self.

"I'm home safe, hope you are too....." What else, what else? I thought ".....try not to catch a cold. I love you." Then I sent it.

I noticed her inhaler was in the car, she'd left her bag too. My phone beeped. One new message;

"Been admitted. County hospital."

It took my brain about a mili second to process the information. I started the car and put it in reverse, the rain now came in showers. Why would she forget her inhaler?! I was getting negative vibes, feeling guilty.

I should have gone after her.
