On my last article, I shared the different forms of Intelligence. Indeed we have many difference especially in our abilities. So for todays Article, I will be sharing with you guys my thoughts about PEOPLE WITH EXCEPTIONALITY.
One significant factor that highlights individual differences and diversity in the community is the presence of exceptionalities. We commonly refer people with exceptionalities as persons who are different in some way from the "normal" or "average. The term "exceptional" includes those with special needs related to cognitive abilities, behavior, social functioning, physical and sensory impairments, emotional disturbances, and giftedness. Most of these require a lot of understanding and patience as well special education and related services if they are to reach their full potential of development. And people as we, we always care to those people who experiencing like this, especially if it is our family member. Hindi po dapat natin sila itakwil since hindi din naman nila gusto yung situation nila.
Terminology
DISABILITY
Is a measurable impairment or limitation that "interferes with a person's ability, for example, to walk, lift., hear, or learn. t may refer to a physical, sensory, or mental condition.
HANDICAP
Handicap is different from disability. Malaki po ang pinagkaiba nila. Ang handicap po ay isang disadvantage that occurs as a result of a disability or impairment. The degree of disadvantage ( or the extent of the handicap) is often dependent on the adjustment made by both the person and his environment.
Therefore, the extent to which a disability handicaps and individual can vary greatly. Two person may have the same disability but not the same degree of being handicapped. For example, Mayroon pong dalawang tao na mayroon pong problema in communicating with other people. But yung isa is marunong gumamit ng sign language which can help na madeliver nya ang message na gusto nya to communicate other people while yung isa, is hindi. So doon po nagkakaroon ng pagkaiba sa dalawa at yun yung tinatawag na handicap. The first individual would not have as much handicap as the second one.
Let me share you my experience since my grandmother, the mother of my mother, is a deaf-mute person. She could not talk nor hear us so we only do sign language to communicate. Although she did not learn the sign languages that is taught in school. Lola has her own. So at my 19th years na kasama siya so alam ko na talaga how to communicate with her. For your information, I am her Favorite Child lol, since I am the only boy and the youngest child. Every time na ala pa ako sa hapag kainin, kung oras na kumain, palagi nya talaga akong sinasabihan at kukulitin talaga ako nyan lol. I know the feeling of having impairment, so every time nakakakita ako ng person with disability I always respect them like what I always do to my lola because I despite of having disability they still know how to take care people they love.

Show them that they are still important and you are proud with them. Show them the love na makakapawala ng pag isip nila sa kanilang disability. Show them the love you give to other people na walang disability. I am sure ,that they will be happy with that. Always show respect to them.
