The Spoken-Word Poetry video with a title “Dear Future Generations, Sorry!” by Prince Ea that was shown to us, expresses a great sorrow and disappointment about what is happening in our Planet Earth in the present time. This piece shows about how clean and beautiful the Earth was that was once surrounded by billions of trees, and how it is being abused, degraded, and destroyed for the sake of money and of what people call “Progress”. It also talks about the importance of nature to the people living in it. This piece involved his great advocacy to help the nature through his “Stand for Trees” Campaign.
This is a very convincing piece for it touched not only the emotions of the viewers, but also made everyone think about how they treat the environment. This piece shows the two sides of the story, how aesthetic the Earth was, and how it is being destroyed now. It emphasized how the Amazon Rain Forest turned to be the so-called Amazon River today. It talked about how trees were very beneficial to the human beings, a source of our own needs like food, medicine, water, and the clean air we are breathing. But it also shows how trees are being cut and burned down using brutal machines for money. It discussed all the negative effects of overusing and destroying our nature to the present and future generations. It also brought up situations that are currently happening, like the climate change that is felt by the people of Bangladesh, and how the smell of fossil fuels affect the kids of Beijing. However, it also suggests a solution to these problems, to work as one in saving the environment. This piece helps spread the awareness that our Planet Earth is dying, and every one of us are responsible for it.
This Spoken-Word Poetry pinched a part of my heart, and somewhat made me feel guilty of the very little things that I do that is against the environment. From throwing away those candy wrappers, to burning down plastics which contributes to a great impact on our Planet Earth. It made me realize about how really important our Planet Earth is, that we are nothing without it. It also made me question myself, “What can I do to help save the environment?” Our environment needs everyone’s helping hands right now, so we must start changing our ways and help redirect it to become a cleaner, greener and better place to live in, because the future of the Planet Earth lies in our hands. We must act now, because the future generations are counting on us.
