Most of the people are now living virtually and the growing community of technology is obviously unstoppable. Technology has no age, even a 3-year old kid can use their gadget and there are times that it is treated as the “baby sitter” of parents.

However, there are things that you need to consider in your daily activities in virtual world because most of the time, you cannot bring it back once you did it so we should think twice before doing something.

In the end of this article, you will encounter the following:

  • Click bait with a purpose!

  • Why terms and conditions are important?

  • Is it safe to sign in on suspicious links?

Are you sure that online activities are safe?

Click bait with a purpose!

Click baits are popular in social media and other entertainment platforms including YouTube. As what you have noticed on thumbnail videos in YouTube, most of it are catchy and will make you curious and intentionally, you will click it because of your curiosity.

Congratulations! You are one of the victims of the click bait modus. Sometimes, creators will choose to put wrong information just to gain viewers, what if there's a link on Facebook saying “RIP: Elon Musk” I bet you will be curious and click the link.

In this case, better to think twice because there are different smart people who have skills where when you click the link, they will have an access on your confidential information including your password, email, messages and etcetera. We must know how to determine a suspicious link so we can avoid this kind of situation.

Why terms and conditions are important?

It is undeniable that most of us don't want to read terms and conditions because of its length, it is time consuming. Well, you can read 500 pages of novel so you will also need to learn to read terms and conditions. As what you all know, when noise.cash admins created the rules, there are more than 101 users who deleted the account unintentionally because they click the (check) ☑ button that is saying “Delete my account.” it is because we are not reading!

In addition, did you know that Facebook listed terms and conditions that they can track your activities even you are not using Facebook? Yes, some of the websites that you visited can be tracked by Facebook because you agreed on their terms and conditions.

Fortunately, you can turn it off—just like what I did on my account. In addition, they can also access your credit card and debit card if you use their Product to purchase something. Now, how safe are you?

Is it safe to sign in on suspicious links?

Obviously, not. Who the f*ck in the world that will sign in on suspicious links, right? However, despite of the word “suspicious” there are still people who were fooled because of the “fake-benefits” that blind them. This is why scammers are still everywhere.

Let us use this example, someone sent this link to me...sadly, s/he's my friend. As what you can see on the link below, “Toyota 80th Anniversary Celebration 💰 Free gifts for everyone!” Come to think of it, if today is their anniversary, they should have an official announcement it's either on television, radio or on their official website. Sadly, the link is very suspicious! It doesn't even have “s” on https which means secure, (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure).

To make it short, don't be blinded on “fake-benefits” that they offer especially if they are asking for money and your information. Don't be fooled of phishing. attacks, if scammers are smart, you should be smarter! Don't forget to do a research!

Conclusion

We can't fully trust a person even in personal, but how can we trust the people virtually? It is probably because we didn't read the terms and conditions, we are blinded on the benefits and fun.

Furthermore, we should know how to read and careful on what we are doing online because once we clicked it, there is no turning back. Every action will have an outcome and we should think in advance on what are the possible outcome in the future.

Lastly, don't be lazy in knowing the advantage and disadvantage on something because it can help you to lessen your risks online. Always decide in your own!
