Negative feelings exist to guard us.
Negative feelings include sadness, anger, fear, and disgust. We can feel it every now and then, it's a natural response for environmental stimuli. When we try to reflect may it be personal or from other person's past (family, friends or the one's that you watched on television or read somewhere) many of the most meaningful experiences in life are quite painful. Our exposure to negative emotions makes us stronger to face incoming crises.
We learn to cope with it by being exposed to stimuli that cause these feelings. That we create emotional resilience — refers to one's ability to adapt to stressful situations or crises.
When difficult situations come most of us wants to escape or ignore the negative emotions. We tend to suppress, we eliminate negative emotions and experiences from our lives. Not knowing that the more we run from it, the more it will haunt us. Even if we are lucky enough to avoid these emotions, it will come back. We will be weaker for having done so.
So when you are experiencing anxiety, disappointments and other negative feelings. Embrace and feel it but do not own it. It may be hard and heavy but you have to face it. Share it your friends or loved ones, let it all out. Seek help but most importantly, help yourself. Help yourself turn these moments into an opportunity for growth. Emulate and learn from these experiences.
There's this quote I read somewhere,
“It’s a gift to exist, and with existence comes suffering”
The meaning from this pain and the benefits it can bring to our lives comes from how we choose to use it.
