Hi everyone! This is LMG Crochet and welcome to my humble blog.
For my first article, I would like to share how a simple hobby of mine became a small business.
Pandemic taught people to not just stay healthy and safe but also to try and learn new things.
Let me tell you a short story of how I started.
I was in 7th grade (first year high school) when a classmate of mine taught me how to crochet. That time, medyo nainggit lang ako sa kanya. Kasi yung school nila noong elementary tinuruan silang maggantsilyo samantalang yung school namin, puro pagpapakopya lang sa libro. Hehe. (I love my alma mater tho.) And I have a book dati about crochet but I don't understand a thing.
What she taught me that time was just basics. Not all basics, actually. Tapos she's using 3 ply monaco mercerized that time and imia 7 na hook. Nung natuto na ko, medyo naadik ako. Kasi nakakaadik naman talaga. Kapag nakikita mo na nadadagdagan yung rows tapos unti unti siyang nabubuo. Nakakaadik, pramis. I started making coin purses and sling bags na freehand lang at puro dc (double crochet). That time, di ko pa alam na marami pa lang tutorials sa youtube. Hehe.
I have to study pa hanggang makatapos ako ng hs. I was so busy with my working life na wala na kong time na maghobby. Hehe.
Last year lang, 2020, nung bumalik ako ulit sa paggagantsilyo. I got pregnant at kailangan kong pansamantalang huminto sa pagtatrabaho. It started as a hobby. Alam mo na, buntis na bored. Walang magawa, napagtripang maggantsilyo ulit. Until one of my colleague asked if I'm selling my creations, I replied 'no'. But then I realized, why not?
After one year of practicing. Watching lots of different youtube tutorials, I finally made a lot of things out of threads.
June 2021 when I created my own facebook page and started selling crochet items. I've sold many alcopouches, lanyards, purses and earrings. And I am hoping to sell more.
It was just a simple hobby at first. But since it's pandemic and life is a little bit hard here in the Philippines, I decided to sell crochet stuffs.
That's the journey behind my small crochet business. Hope it inspires everyone to be productive and try to learn new things.
