Blockchain Games have been around for a couple of years now but in the last months we decided to include a daily session of crypto gaming and what can we say: We are in love with Play-to-Earn Model. If you never heard of the Play-to-Earn model for video games it is basically as it sounds: you receive money in the form of tokens for playing a game by completing daily challenges, and specifics tasks in-game.

Even though in most Crypto Games you have to make an initial investment, it is well worth it!

For those who might think that videogames are exclusively for kids, I'll suggest you read this article about a guy from the Philippines who did an incredible analysis on how much he could make by playing Axie Infinity in comparison with the minimum wage... I really suggest you check that article since the results speak for themselves:

I believe that we're on the verge of a new ecosystem where players will be rewarded and retributed for the time and money they spend on games. Just imagine if, today, you own ALL the weapons, potions, and in-games articles you ever bought since you started playing. I don't know about you but my first console was the original Nintendo and when my parents gave us a PC, it was a Pentium II. So, yeah, I'm kind of old and I can only imagine if every penny that I've spent in games would be registered on a blockchain and I own it today.

This is what's going on here. When you buy a card pack on Splinterlands, you really own it and can even lease them on other exchanges. When you acquire a collectible on Sorare, you actually own the card in a way that wasn't possible. This is revolutionary for the industry. I can see a future where games have special items that "evolve" over time, or a famous YouTuber could "donate" his special weapon on a blockchain-based game, and so on. The possibilities are endless.

When the Internet came out and it was adopted by the mainstream, nobody was thinking about Spotify, Pinterest, or FitBit. We couldn't imagine the applications that came with transferring information and we can't imagine what will happen when an important studio like Rockstar or EA develops a game on a blockchain and give players the power of true ownership.

Before we start, we want to say that we noticed the data related to Dapps daily users is not accurate. The two most used websites to track distributed apps are StateoftheDapps and DappRadar but these two webs differ when they calculate which games are the most played in 24 hours.

As you can see in the image above, Upland (EOS), Splinterlands (HIVE), and Bolt Coin (Klaytn) are the top three most played blockchain games according to this website but when we look in Dappradar for the exact same information we get different results:

The first result is an ad. According to Dappradar, the most played blockchain games are Alien Worlds (WAX), Galaxy Blocks (ThunderCore), and Upland (EOS). The only coincidence is Upland that appears in the top three of both websites.

Upland

Built on the EOS blockchain, Upland is a blockchain game about land ownership. It defines itself as a "Virtual Property Trading" game. Upland gives players the possibility to buy, sell and trade virtual properties based on real-world addresses, just like the one you live at today but in the digital world.

You've seen Splinterlands a lot on this website but what can we say: It's a great game! According to StateOfTheDapps, it is one of the games with the most active users in the last 24h with more than 6,200 players. If one compares with mainstream games, it is minuscule! Imagine if this game had 500,000 or 3 million users... People don't know what they're missing!
