Materialism plays a vital part in Western society. We're accustomed to accumulating new stuff and are constantly on the lookout for more. This culture instills in us the desire to achieve greatness. Money and wealth are synonymous with success. People with more money live the good life in the Western world, while those with less struggle to survive or just want more than they have.
Most of us forget a very crucial thing, a life gem, in this kind of society: the power of giving.
Why is it so difficult for us to give at times?
Giving demonstrates that you care for someone or something. People may take advantage of your concern and exploit you if you care. Perhaps you're frightened that if you give, you'll lose. Maybe you're worried about how the money you provide will be spent. Alternatively, some people may be uninterested in your assistance and become enraged.
It is not a viable option to refuse to give. It's the equivalent of not loving in order to avoid being wounded. You're not savoring the moment since you know it'll end soon. You should not cross the road because you may get hit by an automobile. Giving wisely is the solution. Try to figure out what your donation accomplishes and what it causes. Even if you're sometimes wrong, at least you tried and did your best.
One common blunder is to believe that you must have more in order to offer. Even if you don't have much money, you can contribute. You may help the needy, donate to a charity, or support your favorite celebrities by purchasing their merchandise.
You do not need to be brighter or more skilled than others in other areas. You can still donate in your current circumstance. There are more positive or compassionate people than you, for example, but you can always make someone's day by saying something nice or helping them out.
You open a channel to the universe's abundance when you contribute. Give if you're stuck in a certain area of your life. Give love to those who need it. If you need extra money, donate it or be helpful without expecting anything in return.
How does this makes sense?
Giving gives the idea that you have something to give. You aren't lacking on anything. You begin to become accustomed to this sensation, and it will return to you. If you provide love and promote optimism, you will become accustomed to it, and others will begin to react in the same manner. If you provide free services to people, some will wish to thank you by paying, or you may find new and innovative ways to make money.
Giving from the heart is true giving. It's not giving if you give in order to obtain something; it's a transaction. Never give out of superiority, and avoid making the other person feel inferior or as if they are a burden to you. It may be difficult at first and feel forced, but with practice, you will begin to give with love without asking anything in return.
So, what are your options now?
You can begin to practice giving by doing tiny things such as picking up trash in public places, being kind to others, smiling, volunteering at a local animal shelter, and a variety of other activities. Of course, you can go a step further and do something significant. However, every small act of kindness has an impact. Don't think of giving as a way to obtain anything in return, or that someone owes you something. Give cheerfully and make it a habit.
