Few things in life have the power to permanently damage your heart and psyche like unrequited love. When you feel an enormous, overwhelming amount of love for someone who could never feel the same way about you, it pierces you to your core in a manner that no physical hurt could ever do.
All of those emotions, all of that time and energy spent wondering and speculating about what could have been, all came to an abrupt halt. Oh. They don't share my sentiments. It's as if you've arrived at the end of the rainbow only to be greeted by an empty pot, the shell of what may have been.
You're left with nothing but regret and sadness as you reflect on what might have been if the person of your dreams had even a quarter of your feelings for them.
You will eventually get over unrequited love, even if it is excruciatingly painful. To get back on your feet, it takes a lot of adjusting your attitude and strengthening your mind – especially when it feels like there was never anything to get worked up about in the first place. It's as though everything you've ever desired has been a fantasy.
To get over someone who doesn't love you back, follow these five steps:
Accept your current position for what it is.
Accepting the current state of affairs is the first step toward overcoming unrequited love. Accept the fact that you love someone who does not share your feelings. Accept that you have no influence over how others perceive you. Accept how it makes you feel - miserable, unworthy, unlovable, incapable of true happiness – or any combination of these feelings. The sooner you accept the way things are, both inside your mind and outside of it, the sooner you'll accept what is and stop fantasizing about what might have been. You will be able to move on with your life and your treasured love as a result of this.
Recognize your worth.
It's critical to see yourself as the badass you are. Remind yourself of your brilliance and how much someone who doesn't see all of your beauty is missing out on. Be kind with yourself. If you need to, forgive yourself. Keep in mind that life is always a work in progress, and that your romantic world will improve over time. Continue forward, knowing that you are as amazing, unique, and completely deserving of love as anybody has ever been.
Concentrate on yourself.
The next step is to work on improving yourself. This isn't so much to increase your attractiveness to a potential mate as it is to enhance your own self-esteem and remind yourself of how much you can achieve if you put up the effort. Work out, take up a new hobby you've always wanted to try, and start living your life for you and only you. You don't need somebody to complete you. From the beginning, you've had everything you need for completion within you.
Spend time with your loved ones.
When you're at your lowest and feel most alone, you need your loved ones the most. Make the time and effort to reconnect with the individuals who are most important to you. Your friends and family will always be there for you, and being in their company will allow you to see all of the qualities that make you so special. You'll be reminded of how wonderful life can be, and you'll feel re-energized and eager to embark on new adventures.
Spend time with the people you care about.
You need your loved ones the most when you're at your lowest and feel most alone. Take the time and make the effort to reconnect with the people who matter most to you. Your friends and family will always be there for you, and spending time with them will allow you to appreciate all of the aspects that make you unique. You'll be reminded of how lovely life can be, and you'll be re-energized and excited to do new things.
Getting over someone who doesn’t love you back is one of those things which often goes unnoticed by other people, but cuts just as deep as the loss of any love. After all, the feelings you have for the person that doesn’t see you in the same light are real. Because no one else can see your loss but you, you may feel very isolated and alone, but that doesn't change the fact that your feelings are valid and acceptable. You'll be fine in the end if you keep reminding yourself of that. Keep in mind that these things take time, so be patient!
A sad reality of love, we love them but they never love us back in the same way. Correct, those five steps will help us realize in the same time also.
