Get to know about mee, an artist and writer from 🇵🇭

Hello readers/ lovely huemans!!! I am kolayn and I am new here in read cash. I am a pianist, artist, writer, and Christian from the Philippines 🇵🇭. I would like to start my introduction with my art journey!!

YEAR 2020: START OF MY ART JOURNEY

I started my art journey in the year 2020 - the time when Covid-19 lockdown started in our country, Philippines. That time, I want to do art but I don't have an art materials so I bought a cheap pen markers from a sari-sari store. It cost Php 25.00 HAHAHAHAHAHA.

That time, I want to challenge myself to do calligraphies because I was so amazed and inspired from my fellow artist friends. And I think, it is also a good idea to spend my free time and improve my art skills.

Here's my calligraphy works.

Aside from writing calligraphies, I've also drew anime characters. These are my works :

YEAR 2021: START OF MY WATERCOLOR JOURNEY (a new medium unlocked!)

In this year, I was so motivated to do watercolor paintings. Luckily, I do have a watercolor set and extra 60 gsm notebooks. Also, my mother gave me a flat brush that she bought from a store. At first, I found it hard because the paper of my notebooks doesn't well absorb water resulting to a messy artwork.

That time, I just want to give up and thinking that if I have an artist grade materials, I can easily do it. But thankfully I've decided to continue my goal and ignore those negativity.

My first content of my watercolor paintings were Disney characters like Snow White, Tiana, Angry and Happy ( Snow White's dwarfs ), and 3 mices from the Cinderella, and fashion gowns.

Middle of this year, I want to try a new content so I've decided to paint church and plant paintings.

( Short story hihi ^_^ ) We have a calendar that has a printed paintings at the top of it. I was so amazed in it so I've decided to paint it hihi 🤭. That calendar has a printed church and plant paintings.

YEAR 2022 : TIME OF SKETCH ERA

This year, I bought a sketchbook, sketching pencil set, paintbrush, and metallic watercolors from an online platform. I've decided to practice sketching human heads but still doing watercolor paintings.

Sometimes, I felt that I'm not doing good because I can't draw a realistic portraits. I think that it isn't look alike or same from the reference. But I'm thankful that I have art friends who boost my confidence. Now, I'm still learning and trying to improve my art skills.

As of now, I am trying to improve my art and piano skills. I'm hoping that the following years will be such a great experience to me, the age of becoming a better and creative individual.

YEAR 2023 & 2024 : BEING ADDICTED TO GRAPHITE SKETCHES 💀

In this year, I was really into sketching and I do love collecting some portrait references from Pinterest and Facebook.

Sometimes, there is a situation where I've felt I'm not doing well with my drawings because of the outcomes I am achieving that my drawings are not accurate with my reference and because of that, I became procastinated to do my passion.

Nevertheless, I still pursue my passion and embrace my creativity in my schoolworks.

Every time I'll go back and see my past artworks makes me happy and it is an evident that I am growing !

For my conclusion, I just want to encourage all of you that continue and follow your passion even though your path seems to be tough. Always trust process and trust God.
